How to use Social bookmarking to get links to Articles

    Hi,

I was reading that it's a good thing to get your article submitted (or links to your article) to some of the social bookmarking/networking sites.
I was wondering what is the best way to do this if you have a site with 30 pages of content and that you are constantly adding pages to? Can you just have people submit these different articles to the same networking sites and is there a good way to do it? Also are there things you shouldn't do that will get your site banned/in trouble/or is just a waste of time?
And can anyone recommend a service that does this - e.g. 30 listings/links per article across a network of sites?

    Thanks for any advice.

Something that you shouldn't do is to submit each and every article to Digg or some social bookmarking service.
You might get your site and account banned for doing this.

    Yes it can be good.

Slowly and manually - for example submit 5 a day to the social sites.

Most of the time you submit them yourself, once submitted you may get votes - manually.

Don't go overboard and submit heaps in one day - or heaps from one site - or yes .... you will get banned and possibly your domain will also.

Depends, there's social sites, bookmarking sites, spam sites, rss sites - all these are different - Digg, StumbleUpon, Reddit, Furl etc are true bookmarking sites .... then there's the likes of Twitter - which some claim as a bookmarking site or in the same category as Digg - far from the truth as Twitter is just a simple Blog.

Digg - is probably the best site to start at, easy to learn and delivers the most traffic in my experience, some are just flooded with submissions and no-one visits them apart from ping submissions and bots. - in the sense of true bookmarking/social tagging.

Ping - is best delivered from services like feedburner - where you can set up auto ping with an RSS feed, feedburner wgives you the option to ping with their ping service and this covers most of the important sites.

Basically it's a huge subject and can be confusing, unless you like to read, the best way to learn is to sign up and start submitting.

Usually I don't submit to social bookmarks hoping to get the traffic because the conversion does not justify doing it. Unless it's dofollow social bookmarks so that I gain backlinks. Try to avoid using the auto submitter program because it could get your account banned.

Not necessarily - you just have to use "Popular" key words / search terms as the title and then use them in the description also - when used correctly you can dominate the search engines and get a lot of traffic.

there are lots of social bookmarking sites. if you count the pligg based sites, there are thousands. you can submit few articles to a set of bookmarking sites and another set on another gourp of bookmarking sites. not a big deal but takes some time, thats all.

No, that is not waste of time. it's good that different people will bookmark your same article in different social bookmarking site in their profile. This is good way to market your article over the internet. It increases your link popularity in world.
