I know article submission, forum posting and blog commenting are the ways to get one way links. Is there any other methods to get one way links other than directory submission and link exchange?

Good advise with one exception.... 3 way linking is severely Flawed!!! If you do some research you will find that Google has caught on to 3 way link services and is Slapping or de-indexing those websites that are involved. Think about it for a moment... I's sooooo easy for Google to detect when every time your website links to a website then that website links to one that links back to yours, it's a HUGE footprint and Google sees it. Anther flaw is the fact that for every backlink you receive, you must give a link out, in other words if you want to get 100 backlinks you will have to link out to 100 different websites... What do you think that will do to your websites Page rank? Also you have no control over the sites you link to or the sites that link back to you, therefore you will be linking to sites that are NOT relevant to yours plus you will be getting backlinks that are also NOT relevant And finally. the day you cancel your membership with the 3 way linking service you instantly LOSE EVERY BACKLINK, therefore you are forced to continue your membership. * Press releases * Link bait - Try holding competitions etc * Run an award for something... do a bit of PR about it, then notify 2/3 decent, related sites they have won 1st/2nd/3rd place... give them a badge they can put on their sites... make sure it links back to you ;-)
I know social bookmarking works very well with building back links and generating traffic to your website. I have never really heard of three way links but it sounds interesting and sounds like something I do indirectly anyway and I dont really think Google would have much of an issue with that. I mean just think about me posting the URL to one of my articles somewhere and my article gets a backlink and then there is a link to my website on the article page.. would that be a three way link? If it is then there really cant be any issues with three way links then What is meant by sponsored blog posts? I dont think I have heard that term used before.. Do you mean if your website would be a sponsored link at like the top of a blog post or something like that? That would definitely make sense..
Recommend press release, very effective and done right it will send you some good traffic. The good old method; many will link to you if you have quality content on your web site... boring but true
Correct! 10 way linking is probably alright for a short term measure since SEs will take longer time to discover those "I rub your back you rub my back" links.
Which method that was mentioned, I still think that link baiting is the best. Of course, you will need quality and unique contents to attract others to quote your content at their site/blog and providing backlinks in return.
There are infinite ways to build backlinks, the thing to realize is that building a link should not be fully reliant on the PR of the page. How many high PR dofollow easy to obtain spam-free pages will you find? The way to get good backlinks is write good content, and then attract the attention of your fellow webmasters in that niche and you will get the best backlinks out there, natural ones. Link bait is the key.

bookmarking is very powerful. Make accounts on dozens of existing social bookmarking and networking websites and link yourself in the profile. There, a one-way link (and for free too!).
Use simple but effective social networking sites like: Twitter - very recent site but VERY SIMPLE and effective in updating people on what you are doing.. This can really send alot of traffic to your site. Technorati - Upload your blogs and websites to technorati, it is a very effective way to keep the world updated on what is going on with your website, awesome social networking site.. Digg - I Digg alot of my posts on my website and get alot of traffic from digg and also alot of the things I digg get found on Google so I also get quality backlinks from digg aswell. Social bookmarking can really help you with traffic and getting one-way links to your site.
10 way linking? that sounds very implausbile.. it would take forever to work out a trade of equality, let alone find some1 with 10 relevant sites. id suggest doing the 4-way, thats much easier :O

On 3 way linking I have yet to see a three way link that makes sense to me. The last one a costume site - relevent to me wanted to add my site in two of their sites - sounds good right? Well the two sites were pr0, I am a pr4 and the sites were a motorcyle accessory site and a tattoo site with nudity, both pr0 and no relevency at all. For the life of me I guess there are three way links that are a good match but watch out. I had to laugh when I emailed the webmaster or sorcerer that I respectfully declined. 10 way links? IMO that would be much harder to make it work for both sites and why go through that trouble, spend your time on the other great suggestions on this post. I particularly like the link baiting as it is a win, win for everyone. I offer a free product for the webmaster of the other site to promote and other webmasters can enter to win the product if they place my link in a post....... Works every time!
