YouTube clone website and ROI

I would like to talk about the return on investment of a YouTube clone project with people having such a website

Such scripts like Clip-Share pro 4.0 with a nice design, plugins, a branded player, instal... can cost $ 500/1000

Of course the ROI depends on key issues such as trafic and the way you monetize it

So what is your opinion on the ROI of YOUR YouTube clone website?

Are you happy with it?

Or is this project just a hobby or a nice website in your portfolio?

And i running at offshore server cost me around $399/month
I use this to host tv series such as prison break etc
I do this website not for money but only for interest

no im not, but will definitely be the first on the list if i get into the video sharing biz

 

CTRs on Youtube clone sites are not bad since visitors spend several minutes to look at a video. If halfway into the video they get bored, they'll be looking for a way out, and the ads are a potential exit point.

As for ROI the hardest challenge is find a regular base of return visitors, which is not so easily to do since you're competing with the likes of Youtube, Veoh, Imeem, etc. You should focus on a very specific area of interest rather trying to compete with the giants. You'll likely have negative ROI at first. But if your site is "sticky" enough, your investment will pay off in the future.
