Best seedboxes on DP | 100mbit line | Unmetered bandwidth and torrents!

Hey guys.

Seen as my server is sitting around not doing much I though i'd lend it out as a seedbox. It is hosted on a 100mbit line, making the upload/download speed incredibly fast. With a good torrent the speed can get up to 10mb/s download and about 6mb/s upload.

I couldn't find a good enough torrent, but here is a screenshot:

This looks quite a deal. How long will it last?
And, what is the space usage restriction? Also, is FTP access allowed?

 

It will last for at least 3 months, but most definitely more. There is no space restriction but if my servers HDD (250GB) stat's to get full I'll ask you to delete any inactive torrents

FTP access is also allowed, you will have a private account in your /downloads folder

 

Heres a quick write up as I have been testing this out for about an hour now.

Having never used torrentflux before I was expecting to have a few teething problems however it was all pretty straight forward, entering in private tracker info was simple.

Here are the speeds I was getting from a couple of torrents, the 2nd one here was only being seeded by 1 person, so maybe thats due to the slow ( 700kb..slow...not) speed.

OK, so one of my downloads hit 100%, and then started downloading itself again !?! I dont know whether there is a max file size as this 1 file was 3.9gb, not split into smaller files. ( I think its just torrentflux as the torrent site says I am seeding it )

After this little hiccup I checked my directory and file size was 0KB yet when i downlaoded the file it seemed OK, maxed out my download speed.

Heres the error that popped up when viewing my home directory

So all up other than the inherent problems of torrentflux this is damn speedy...... all there is to test now is the ftp speed to my own hosting. ( hint hint whitey).

Just tested a torrent for upload speed and was getting > 1mb/s upload speed. great for obtaining good ratio's on private trackers. awesome....

update for anyone thinking of purchasing.


12 hours are nearly up, If I had wanted I could probably have grabbed in excess of 200gb and it be hosted on the torrentflux, thats how fast it was...... (but I didnt).

Uploading averaged about 1mb/s for the duration of the test account, upped over 25gb in this time.

http downloads maxed me out ( my home adsl maxes out at 500kb/s ).

Yes, I did give it a good testing, more so than when I will pay to use it, but thought I would do that to give it a good check.

All in all I would recommend this as it it pretty darned awesome... I am purchasing.

 

1 month account purchased...... I like the fact that Whitey is willing to listen to ideas and help implement them..

oh yeh and the fact that it is blazing fast helps

 

I HIGHLY reccomend this, the speeds are blazing fast espescially if you have a good source for torrents, example, I downloaded 4gb whole season of a show in MINUTES.. minutes. I couldnt believe it lol, my only gripe is space isnt really 'unlimited per say but its not really an issue yet.

Finally logged in however there are a few issues

- One there is only a 9GB available on the harddrive (Big Problem).

- Secondly there are 19 people sharing the box which is not an issue (well not with the speeds yet). The issue is if one of those people have already uploaded a torrent I want to upload I am out of luck, especially with new torrents as it won't let me add them as they have already been added.

- Thirdly not your problem Whitey, but an issue people should be aware of, if more than 1 person is uploading to *the same* Private site with the same ip address that is coming from this Kimsufi server they may be banned from that tracker. With 19 people there is sure to be some overlap so be aware.

The positives- Speeds are fast, adding torrents is fast.

 

Seviled, server space is low due to someone grabbing 25gb+ sized torrents and not finishing them off, once they are pruned ( as they have sat there for a week ) we should be OK.

as for the issue of people downloading torrents which u wanna grab, I guess we will just have to grab diffrent torrents, we can always download their files anyway

the amount of people on it now is pretty high, although speeds are still decent enough to not be too fussed

 

Now it is coming up with a warning every time the page refreshed that the HD is 98% full-

98% (3.50 GB Free)

Maybe time to delete those 25GB chunks.

 

I dont understand how this person could still have their files when I constantly get stuff deleted on my account, I dont know if its the admin or the program itself but when I leave stuff downloading overnight, i come back and the torrent is stopped and when i restart it its at 0% again.

 

HTTPD Could be failing. It's a common problem with torrentflux and would be fixed in 2.5.

nurse joker, you are the culprit with the monster torrents......
They way I understand it is the server has scripts which run each morning to ensure the server load is not too high, just means we have to restart our torrents..no biggie.

Why has whitey been banned anyway ???

I only had one 20gig torrent running which never got over 10% downloaded in the first place because the server restarts the torrents everynight so It couldnt have been me taking all of that space so dont blame me for the servers obvious space sharing problem. When I joined the server only had 40gb left.
