This looks like the first time it happens overseas (well with media coverage that is).

I never thought such things happen in schools other than American universities.

    Times have changed
We had a gun club in high school that was supervised by a retired sniper. We shot after school once per week and that's where I learned to shoot. It was not uncommon for guys to go duck or deer hunting before or after school and leave their gun in their trucks while they were in class. Now at the same school they have dogs sniffing for weapons.

I know times have changed, gun violence in school however is not a brand new thing is my point.

Several schools around here had shooting ranges in their lower levels, I highly doubt they do anymore.

What has changed is the opinion and 'zero' tolerance policies, lack of respect in some cases for guns among others.

    this is a bad news

Such people must be killed as they kill people intentionaly.

I suggest the government put penalty of death for any killer, that will cause the person to think a lot before he does such a crime.

    peace.

There are different forms of 'killing', many also go to prison under flimsy at best cases against them.

If the person is for certain going to die, more reason for them to take even more with them.

Most of these mass school shooters kill themselves or plan to die in their attacks anyway. The death penalty is not a deterrence in these cases. This fool shot himself in the head.

How is that going to be a deterrent when most of these nut cases kill themselves anyway?

If you see a high wall before you, you will not even think of stealing, because you know how hard is the wall (law).

But if you see low wall, then you may try to steal.

death penalty is a high hot wall.

the prison is not enough, because you may think of a plan to get out of it, but how can you get out of the sword when it pass through your nick?

Ok Confucius... People that do not care about others lives, don't care about their own. Since more often than not these types of people kill themselves in the end anyway, what kind of a deterrent is death when they don't care?

Many of those who kill people, don't kill themselves, that is a fact.

The idea is to prevent the evil idea from coming into your mind.
Of course that is not enough, the people should fear God.

Many people convicted of murder are WRONGFULLY convicted FACT.

If they were automatically to die when killing someone, many would go out with a bang and kill more. They would have no reason to surrender.

I was referring to mass-murders like this one. It would appear, though I cannot find any statistic, for the most part the people who commit the crime, more often than not end up dead either by their own hand or that of someone else.

That said, I see no logical deterrent. Capital Punishment does nothing more than insure that the person who is being killed will never kill again. If it deterred people would there really be shootings like this?

According to the story about the mass shooting in Finland, gun control is very lax there. Almost anybody can own one.

Well if it's because gun control is 'lax' I guess they have these happening all the time hey?

Surely if there was gun control one could not get a gun to commit a crime. I know it's the same way here, drugs are banned and damn you just can't find them.
