Google crawl

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by discodollars, Sep 25, 2008.

Because I run a celebrity blog website, getting my news/gossip crawled as soon as possible is imperative.

When I ran my stats for my site, http://www.celebrityviplounge.com it showed the last crawl was a week ago. How do I get google to crawl my site quicker than that?

I know it sounds like a stupid question, but I would appreciate any SEO advice from the experts.

    Thank you!

To get Google to crawl often you must post on a regular basis, once Google see's theres a regular change in content it will increase it's crawl frequency.

At the moment it's really just a waiting game until Google realises it should crawl more often.

I'm not sure of the effects but you could use a blog pininging service like pingomatic.com to notify the major engines when new content has been posted.

Ok, yes I do update daily...at least 6 entries per day and I do use pinging services.

So, basically it is a waiting game...all the while being consistent or maybe even "upping" the number of entries I write per day?

I think 6 entries a day is certainly sufficient so need to up the number for the sake of it.

Another thing to note is that Google has to think your new posts are worth indexing. Do your posts get regular links?

Have you also check the site internal link structure and ensure that there is no duplicate content returned via different URL? They usually like unique contents.

How about your google webmasters tools crawl rate setting? Don't forget about this one as well.

You could consider create news sitemap? (special kind of sitemap created by Google) If your website is very orientated towards fast crawling and has unique news about celebrities... Perhaps worth a try?

At a quick glance it looks like you need to work on your content, make fresh and quality content on your blog! Then submit them to different social bookmarking sites like digg, stumble, propeller, etc.

Fresh content is the best solution for improving ratio of crawling. Submit your site or blog to social bookmarking sites. SMO is also one of the best ways.

If you will get backlink from high PR than also crawler visits your site frequently.

Add a sitemap, update it. Your best bet would be to build more more more backlinks. As many as possible, then you're site will have higher priority over others.

Sitemaps aren't as great as you guys think...
