Is there any reason why you think .me is not valuable or it's just your personal taste?

    My predictions:

    1. The auction beginning tuesday will break all records. At least 5 domains will sell for more than 100 000$ and a lot more for at least 25 000$.

    2. Soon, ".com" won't be king anymore because there will be more and more new TLDs, some really good ones: .sex, .buy, .shop, .book, .web, etc. People won't care anymore to know if it's a ".com" or not, the only thing that will be important is that the name is catchy and easy to remember. In those days, .me will be a really good TLD.

I prefere domains that use the ".me" to mean something. Example: insure.me.

But who knows, you may have success with those domains!

Insure.me (obvious), hire.me (car rent etc), appoint.me (jobs), quote.me (insurance) and a few more similar ones are the best ones. Their beauty is that they are not only catchy but also they have a very strong element of business. If the above are successful, then other usual ones will have their luck too. ;)

Hi, I am brand new to all of this. I came across this site a few days ago (don't even remember what I was looking up) and started reading about the .me domain names. Well, I bought one and now I need advice on what to do with it... Do I try to sell it now? If so, where and for how much? Do I hold onto it for a while? If so, do I need to park it? Are there other options? It is an adult domain and I don't think I would want to develop it... especially since I am new at all of this.

    Thanks in advance! :)

    Welcome.

If you get an offer that you are happy with then you can sell it now, But to be honest, if the dot me extension takes off, then the longer you hold on to it, the more you will probably get for it.

The price you will get is the price someone is willing to pay.

If you keep it, you do not need to park it. You don't really have to do anything with it.

If you don't sell, park or develop it, then there are no real other options.. just hold on to it, and hope the demand for this extension grows, until you are ready to sell.

what may be an option is, if whoever you got your domain name through offers free basic hosting with the domain, then you should put up a simple page or two explaining a bit about the domain, using keywords that are in the domain name, around 200 or 300 word per page.. doesn't have to be flash, just plain text/html will do, and then start linking to it in forum signatures, on your myspace/facebook/orkut or whatever, that way you give something to the search engines to crawl and it gives them an idea about the theme the site will eventually have.
I do that when I get a domain I would like to develop at some stage.
    sort of like this

Also having it live and search-able, you may even get someone stumble across it, think what a great name, and offer you money for it

When all is said and done, I believe a good domain name should be thought of as a good piece of land, the longer you have it, the more it is worth (in most cases)
If you build/develop a massive house/website on it, then the value increases. But it takes time, never take the first offer (unless its one you cant refuse ;))

    Cheers
    James

You have it for the next 2 years so just hold onto it while word spreads about .ME domains. If you sell now you might end up regretting it!

Do you know if there is a way to search only for .me? This TLD doesn't seem to be available in the search form!

    What list?

To find those names, I configured the paging to display 100 results by page, then I did a find in firefox for ".me".

IMHO those dot me domains that make a catchy phrase (in combination of the name and the extension) and have business element will be highly successful and will set the market trends for dot me as a whole. Similarly the nouns especially names will get popularity over time too.

Undoubtedly .me has got all elements in it, which has potential to make it a competent rival to .com. But other generic words that are remotely related to the word 'me' cannot be compared with .com at this stage, as .com is a well-established domain, whereas .me is a newborn baby; her eyes are still closed. Only powerful dot me websites can open her eyes. :D
