Any Man City fans here?

Wow! Our collection of kids, rejects, cast-offs, has-beens and never-will-be's has just beaten the richest club on the planet! It's a funny old game football.

It certainly is! I was shocked, but not as much as Man City fans! Luckily for me i'm a Bolton fan, so i expect defeat every week, haha!

In all seriousness, Man City can finish in the top 5 this season, Robinho is an outstanding talent...

    I'd imagine there's plenty now ;)

Was pretty shocked when I saw the score, didn't Brighton score in the last minute to draw level?

Yup, 89th minute. At that stage I'd already said to my son "Oh well, at least they didn't thrash us" which is what we'd been afraid of. At the weekend they'd put six past Pompey whereas we'd lost 0-1 at home to Walsall who only had NINE men! And I don't mean they were hanging on with nine men for the last 10 minutes or so, they were reduced to nine men after 30 minutes - then they went and scored! We spent the entire 2nd half ineptly trying to break them down.

Given those circumstances you can understand why we were fearing the worst, and we went absoutley MENTAL when we won the shoot-out. Ah, the magic of the Cup!

Yeah, we'd been looking forward to seeing him! We were a bit disappointed (but not surprised given the circumstances) that Shaun Wright-Phillips and Mica Richards didn't play, but it was still a strong City team.

I've got to say the City fans were very magnanimous in defeat; they've become our favourite Premiership team now!

WIll be interesting to see how many GloryHunters join the Man city bandwagon now that they have rich owners.

Another Chelsea bickering. Eventually all 20 EPL clubs will be taken over by millionares. Then what? .. The actual game will be in the transfer market and the Football will just be secondary.

    Sad to see.

Interesting point about the gloryhunters. As Brighton is a third-tier team there are lots of Big Four fans (Sussex born and bred) who wander around the city in their replica shirts. Strangely you never saw any Blackburn Rovers fans - until they won the league and then a smattering of them appeared. They've all gone now though!

You're also right to a certain extent about the transfer market, although no matter how many players you buy you can only have eleven of them on the pitch at any one time. And as Spurs have proved, spunking 80 million pounds (about 160 million US dollars) on exotic individual talent does not necessarily mean you'll end up with a good team! Also good players want to play and aren't happy just being squad players, just ask Shaun Wright-Phillips.
