I cannot get the freaking bot to revist my website

Googlebot visited my website august 17th. How it got to my website, I have no clue because there were no inbound links at the time and I didn't want it there. On the 17th, it cached the home page which was only in progress and I have not been able to get it back since.

I checked on another website and it too has been over a month. What the heck?

I've been regularly adding links on directories, forums, etc...

that happens to me too, it is like googlebot penalizes you for having a domain up with no content, and then the penalty stays even after you get your content...... it is especially bad if you have a site that is a few years old or more, and then you want to change it and modernize it, but googlebot visits you when you have the page down or parked for a few weeks, then it is like they hate you or something, because even though you then add great content and still have a bunch of great links, they treat you like garbage

really starting to despise the way google is doing things nowadays, it is just plain wrong

I see that people on other forums too are complaining about Google bot not visiting their sites. Maybe there is generally something going on with Google.

I suggest you get some high quality backlinks [links from high PR pages], and add some content in your site too. This will help your site to be crawled faster by google bot.

I suggest using webmaster tools to start with, get site authenticated and check if Google has some recommendation for your sites. As you would be aware, you can also set frequency of bot visit.

I find it useful when Google points out identical description, crawl errors etc to me in webmaster tools, I am sure you too need to find out using the tools available.

    Thx

there definitely is. re caching rates have dropped massively since beginning of August. new pages / posts are as fast as ever, but revisits to find changes have dropped from every 2-3 weeks (for PR3 pages) to more than ten weeks and counting in some cases.

this is across 47 sites we look after

Personally I think the googlebots have been very slow recently. I've noticed a massive slowdown in updates across all my sites and everybody in several different forums i take part in have mentioned the same thing.

If i's your live-arvada domain, one thing you may have going against you is that the domain was only registered for one year and is set to expire in 7 months. It could be considered a temporary domain or a spammy domain. Just a thought

If your site is new like mine then you may have noticed that the google bot has been a bit lazy over the last few weeks. I've hardly had any crawls and even when the google bot does stop by it will only scan 5 pages or less before wandering off.

To fix this I added a new google site map last week and tweaked it to ensure the priority of each page was appropriate depending on the pages hierarchy (my xml site map is fully automated). I've also come across several duplicate content pages and removed the dupe content where appropriate. I had to dig deep mind as the standard "site:www.sitename.com" search didn't detect any dupe content which was odd. Try copying and pasting some lines of text from your web page into google (in quotes) to see if you may be affected.

I would also suggest adding some fresh content and ensure your internal link structure is good. I'm now getting more and more visits from google bot each day - hopefully as a result of these efforts!

Is it a blog? If you're using Wordpress, try the All in One SEO plugin. It might speed up the process a little.

The content we've got is all fresh, it's not a blog, you can see it in my signature.

The internal linking structure is just fine. I've been using webmaster tools, that's how I know it hasn't updated since August 17th.
