ive noticed ever since our economy has taken a tumble, for a good few months now, my adsense earnings per click have gone much lower then it use to, im only thinking its because advertisers dont have the funds to advertise like they use to, im making much less now and just wondering if you guys are having the same problems!!!!

It's not a system-wide phenomenon. It could be a number of things, dynamics of advertiser competition in certain "niches", especially the more visible, more likely to be used for "money making" Mine has been fairly consistent and has in fact gone up if anything.

If you get a chance, one thing to look at that is telling is to calculate a 30-day moving average of your ePC and plot that as a bar-graph. You'll pick out trends there much more readily than trying to do inter-day comparisons. You may find, if you do so, that it reflects exactly what you think you've been experiencing, but it's an interesting exercise and may tell you something.

One thing I do is keep a journal of additions and changes to my site. Then when I see inflections in the graph down the road, I can see if they match with dates where I've made changes.

You may not notice any differences immediately which is why it's good to keep a record of what you do. You can also determine, then, what works and what doesn't work, on a long-term basis rather than a knee-jerk reaction based upon the earnings in the three days that follow any changes.

well i have pretty much all the niches covered and still it seems like people are just not paying as much to advertise today, its really not rocket science, if lets say i use to make 150 a day, its down to 40 a day, thats a huge drop and to me it seems like the economy is affecting our much people spend on their business.

Well I'm mainly orientated in some low paying niches that bring good traffic and therefore also good earnings. But this month clicks are paid really miserably. On average my click was worth 0,07-0,08 Cent per Click in the past, but this month it has dropped under 0,04 Cents per Click. So traffic is raising, earnings are dropping. Let's all hope for better times in the future!

I didn't notice that clicks are paid less on average, they have always been pretty low earnings per click for me anyway but the increase in traffic and the recent calming of the rising euro means that payment is still growing. Could always be better of course, but I haven't noticed a drop like you're mentionning.

The clickthru rate is no longer what it was. People are buckling up their belts with the economy woes. but its also because of low conversion rates from the clickthrus. No matter what you spend. No matter how many alternative "promo ads" you use to lure new visitors, you conversion is low.

Then i also believe there's the pubilsher clicking his own ads...

In any campaign you run, your cash withers and doesnt get an adequate return.

Generally the first budget that gets cut during economic troubles is advertising. If your payouts haven't dropped yet, expect them to.

The global state of economy has a direct effect on online advertising. Better is the ecnomy more advertisers invest and take risk, but in this period (hopefuly will end soon) advertisers limit their budget and don't tend to risk.

May be you are not using good keywords , may be the niche you are using is getting smart prices .Try different related keyword to your niche and check the difference . such thing happens many times .

So far it's like a reduction of about 10% in earnings but I couldn't just relate and blame the whole issue on economic downturn alone. There could be other factors as well.

For the past few weeks, I also have seen the lowest ever earning per click for my sites. My eCPM has decreased and the total earnings are dropped about 20% :(

yes, as i can see, most people agree with me, the economy has alot to do with how much companies are spending on advertising, and no this has nothing to do with keywords whats so ever, i use to earn easy 15 to 40 cents a click, now its down to 8 cents average, that tells you something, but as with anything, what goes up, must come down, and what goes down, will eventually rise back up, the only question is "when"
