I believe they only cancel domains if the information is false. However, people report false whois information is sent to the domain owner to change. So, I think its more of it be discretionary and not I will do this if you don't.

Why provide fake details.... its against the rule and you could have the domains deleted due to that if someone complains.... :)

Use privacy protect, if you dont want your contact details to be public.

Another thing against the rules is that google have access to full who.is information even if you have who.is guard

BTW, what is the time duration to update the whois info from the time you receive the ICANN email?

Wrong!!! Google is not the God of Internet or something that they have the absolute power over everything. who.is guard is there to protect your privacy, and Google has no right to violate it. If they do violate, either Google or the registrar could be sued for a hefty sum...

I once bought a premium domain off GoDaddy and then it was taken off my by godaddy as a result of the system showing it was available when it wasn't.

well this email i believe is sent out to all there customers once a year you have to confirm that the whois detail provided on your domains at godaddy is correct and by clicking the the links etc you verify that, but there are other stories of godaddy in which they have deleted the domains for no good reason so my choice stay away as much as you can use moniker or some other registrars !
