Google is preparing to take on the biggest names in the telephone industry with the launch of its first mobile phone. Google will unveil the phone dubbed the 'G1' in a press conference in New York today. I personally would have less trust on a new born company like that for my phone service. After all Chrome was full of bugs remember!
imho, the phone is a bit ugly i wouldn't buy it either http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D93CJAN81&show_article=1
I disagree with your comment about 99% of webmasters would probably purchase it. If anything, they should be the ones smart enough not to purchase it. They will have first hand experience with how sloppy Google can be. Unfortunately a lot of webmasters are brainwashed into thinking that Google is the king of everything, even before they prove themselves in a brand new industry.
Here's a great article about the g1: http://www.techie365.com/cell-phones/t-mobile-releases-googles-first-cellphone-the-g1.html
I will pass as i have AT&T or cingular and im happy with the service they have provided us for the past 5 years and by the looks of G1 ill have to pass on the offer. thx malcolm
Yes it's ugly, but it's cheap and does what Google wants it to do, that is allow them to stick their foot in the mobile phone door. Nokia, Apple and Sony Ericsson et al should be concerned, as the Open Source platform will definitely shake things up in the mobile market. Subsequent models most likely will be a little more aesthetically pleasing, but right now some people prefer cheap and ugly.
Google is going to take over the world, it's amazing how many different industries they are getting into.
I see the big issue as the single, non-mainstream carrier. T-who? Not in my area. http://www.t-mobile.com/coverage/pcc.aspx Coverage is sparse and isolated. They need to jump in bed with Verizon, if they want to go mainstream. Otherwise, it is big city downtown only. I'm a mountain guy (Verizon phone and Verizon Wireless Internet Coverage). Awesome performance - minimal glitches. . .
Google is getting into everything. Browser, Mobile phone, who knows what will be next. May be a open source OS
I know that many people tell you that if you are not on the first few pages that It does not matter but I have just cracked the third page and I get several Hits per day from Google.
i heard its gonna be real good. but dont rush to buy stuff right when they come out. you gotta wait until they fix all the bugs and make some small changes to make it better. i mean, that's what i do
