I suggest you put a link to the sitemap at the bottom of your blog. Most people don't use the sitemap. But some do. I really like the XML sitemap because it lists all the pages and posts from the start.

I am in webmaster tool of google and they gave me meta tag code to put in my index file. I am using wordpress software for my blog. All files of theme are in .php format and google webmaster tool gave me sample of where to put given meta tags. Their example is in HTML format so I am confused that where should I put given meta tags in my index.php file? Do you have any idea?

If its a wordpress blog put the meta tag in the Header.php file.

No you don't have to put a link to your sitempa on your weebsite.

Meta tags go anywhere between the < head > < /head > tags, this authenticates your blog with google.

THe sitemap needs to be entered on the sitemap sction of webmaster tools
