If you participate in any SEO competition and you have to give only 5 best links in all. Where you will have to post your 5 best links?

 

In www.dmoz.org and then in thematic sites

 

Well would depend on the website for which the links need to be obtained.

 

Thematic resources - old, well established - front pages, H1ed!

 

DMOZ, Yahoo Diretory and 3 in-incontent links on some old, established domains related to my niche

If you will promote your site in dmoz, yahoo and other how will you get approval quick it may take 2-3 months and more. Then what about competition.

 

People never refuse money for some small favors

Digg
Squidoo (create lens)
feedage (submit rss feed)
feedfury (submit rss feed)
feedbite(submit rss feed)

 

I can't see a single site in any competitive niche ranking high thanks to backlinks from Digg & Squidoo

 

Your choices are good but as per competition I think you must select all 5 different channels.

* Google Webmaster Tools ( Google sitemap is very essential )
* Digg and some social bookmarking sites.
* DMOZ

and i get listed in 2-3 days
