Depression Niche + Adsense = Worst Conversions Ever

I have some niches and recently a few months back I developed a niche about depression. Despite my good ad placement, color blending (other niches with similar design yield usually a +/- 10% CTR), I get around 1 or 2 clicks per 100 uniques.

I have some affiliate offers running and made a couple of sales there...but nothing good really, but a lot better than adsense.

Is anyone in this niche? It seems that these visitors are too depressed to click on ads

How is your CTR in this niche?

I can't think of a less likely niche to get hits. If you've feeling depressed the last thing you are likely to do is to access the internet, you are more likely to shut your self off from the world. I think that may be the reason why the CTR are so poor. I think you're right, you're visitors are just too depressed to click on adverts! Your post has made my day though, I spent a few minutes laughing before I could compose myself to write a response.

That's a hell of unheard niche... You better shift to general psychological niche mixed with some medical features..

Depressed people wont be motivated so much, some may be so depressed that they feel no motivation to find solutions or read much about it.

    You are right... :)
It just doesn't give the visitors the right kind of mood to visit the ads and look for remedy.

I was going to try the depression niche a week ago, as I did some research and found out that the adsense conversions were decent. However, I never ended up making the site. Guess its good that I didn't.

The premium wordpress theme that I use now is superb though, my average CTR is 28% and there have been days when I have gotten 50% +. And this is isn't just for a few clicks and impressions. :)

It's not only about the CTR. You have to carefully design your website for a good user experience, affiliate offer placement and good adsense CTR. They all have to live together in harmony. If you design your website only for monetization and completely disregards user experience, you won't get any natural links and thats BAD.

You can try different ad placements and different ad units and try different combinations to see which one give you the best CTR. If CTR do not improve, then I guess you should concentrate on increasing the traffic.

It's not a placement issue as I have explained above. It's the niche.

However, it doesn't matter as I've found a very rewarding affiliate program now.

I wrote a blog about how to make money off of poor niches. You can see it in my sig. It would most likely use that affiliate network very nicely that you got. BTW, which affiliate program is it.
