I believe in helping others out when it comes to to either SEO or internet marketing in general. Over the years I have learned things from other sites and forums, that information was shared to me. At times I take information I read about, add my own spin on it to see if it works better. Either way in return I share things on my blog because I like to educate people on the right and wrong things to do with marketing there site. At least this way they have a heads up on things to watch out for when possibly getting scammed by the fly by night SEO people making these outrageous claims.
I put the information up on my blog for my clients to read. If they want to educate them selves they can do seo to their own site but if they are lazy they can get me to do it. I would rather spend time working on my own sites than working on a clients seo.
Watch out there are many that claim to be an " SEO Company " but actually just mess around and take your money. What you really need to watch for are their crappy SEO Services that could get your website banned in the major search engines. Some even make claims of the websites they have worked on but you know it's just all crap. You really can post any kind of testimonial and nobody really knows most of the time if your a large company with good results or just making crap up. If it were me, I would just learn all I can about SEO and do it myself. Half the services on forums are just crappy good for nothing services that will not help your wesbite out. Also, watch out for the pricing some of these people offer. If it's too good to be true it probably is.
Redundant posts! I should say TIME AND LUCK! The Big G's Algorithm is changing from time to time, and no one knows what it really is, unless you are working in Google!
Luck does not come into the equation. If you know SEO you can systematically rank well for any keyword, virtually 100% guaranteed. There is a time/money factor, and for very competitive keywords you're going to need one/both of these as well. But luck? Not an issue. Even when Google change their algorithm, you can adapt and move with it. Of course if your using black hat or other techniques then I'd probably agree with you, it can be a case of luck. Best way to rank well is a combination of SEO (which despite what many people say is not hard at all, most of it is common sense) and a strategy that uses web 2.0 sites for leverage. I'm usually on page 1 for low competition keywords in 24 hours, and for medium competition within 7 days. And usually I have anything up to 6-7 entries on page 1 by then as well, blowing away the opposition. And the rankings stick, unlike many other web 2.0 strategies which work for a few days or a week before the positions fall out of the rankings. I don't bother with high competition keywords because I'm making enough money with the low to mid competition ones, but if I did bother then yes it would take longer (probably a lot longer). Cheers
I strongly disagree with you on this point, for example have a look at Aaron Wall's SEOBook, you can't tell me that he is not able to SEO himself, his book has been picked up by many "now" SEO specialists, it's also part of MBA courses at various institutions. That's just one example, then there are others, the guys from StomperNet etc.
You know what they say: Those who can't, "Teach" while those who can, "Do" (Unfortunately it doesn't apply to all) LOL!
i have never actually seen anyone offering 10,000 directory submission. but you are right, there are lot of people claiming to be so called SEO exterts. some come to this forum also and aks what their client asks them.
Dont get me wrong, if people ask questions I will answer them, I just said that i would never write an article giving up all that I know. I do live in an asian country actually, but i am English
The reason why people are claiming stuff? Well, welcome to guru-dom. A place where all people are gurus and experts. These people are making false claims so when a newbie comes along and believes them, then they earn bucks. But I have to disagree with the sharing part. Not all people view the online world as a neck to neck competition. Some people want to be like rivers and give away information. Why? They are building on loyalty and customer trust. They give little methods that work so they can get customer loyalty in return. A nice investment I might say.
