For a dating review site I can’t think of a way to group keywords? Is it ok to dump 400 keywords to one ad group? Any ideas? Thanks
Definitely don't dump 400 keywords into one ad group! Remember that your ads are written for each ad group. For the best results, you want to write targeted ads for your keywords. This is great for conversions and for quality score. It might help to think backwards from your ads, then group your keywords according to the themes. Eg. you might have search terms such as "online dating new york" or "meet people in boston" Ideally, these would have their own ad group so you could write your ad specifically for people looking for "online dating new york" etc. If you've got the account limits, creating an ad group per keyword is the closest you can target your ads.
Thanks for the answer. If I have 50 keywords that can be grouped together, should I break in to two 25 keywords for the sake of having less keywords per group?
Hi , Just make separate-2 Adgroups with not more than 100 keywords, and try to make the adcopy for max keywords, and in the ad copy try to put the keywords in title and destination url is must. any ideas ? thanks
No. Groups of 4-8 keywords are ideal. Really break it down! The more you break it down the better the conversion and the lower the amount you will pay per conversion. Consider getting an account manager to do this for you (I am an account manager and see many of my clients chuck in a whole lot of keywords into a single group - break it down!)
What you are saying is that I should break the 50 keywords to 8 Ad groups(name A1-A8) with 6 keywords each. The landing page and Ad copy remains the same. Does this produce better results?
Nope. That's just silly. What I am saying is group your keywords by theme into as many small groups as possible. All groups should have related keywords with related text ads and if possible related landing pages. Note the term "related" was repeated for emphasis. The only way to improve your results is to keep everything relevant. Or you could hire me
I have 100 keywords, and 100 Ad Groups, and guess what? More than 100 versions of adverts. ie each ad Group has 2 or 3 specific ads for that keyword. The best ad stays, the worst ones get replaced. Get the idea?
I would dump all 400 keywords into 1 adgroup and write a generic ad and let it run for a couple days. Maybe even just 24 hours. Then I would download the stats and extract all the keywords that got impressions in that 24 hour or more period. Then place the ones that got impressions into 1 to 1 ads groups meaning 1 keywords per adgroup. then all the remaining keywords you can either trash or leave them in the bulk adgroup. There is no point in optimizing keywords that will never get traffic , so only place efforts on those that will. This little trick will help you quickly find out which keywords to put focus on
The better you theme/groups your keywords with matching ad copies... The better. But it can be a bit long process if you are bidding on many keywords and variations... My suggestion is to start slow and apply the recommendations you have been given here as your time and style permits.
