I would tuff it out for a few more months, do some side web jobs and save some cash to cover a least a months expenses.

then promote your a$$ off and never look back.

    good luck!

Are you web designing right now? If not, forget about it.

If so, how much are you earning and how long are you working?

Find a job that you enjoy doing and don't quit until you have a sufficient income from online.

you might want to set up another stream of income as well. since youll be online a lot why not set up a few sites that are on auto pilot.

that will get you some extra cash.

I would make sure you have enough income from your web sites before dropping your day job, and maybe a little bit extra!

Web income isn't stable so cover a few vaying niches.

Oersonally I am aiming for twice my day job wage before quitting and becoming a full time webmaster :)

Strongly suggest you to go and search for other offline job which is going to satisfy your needs. Only think to leave offline job if you have a sufficient income from online work otherwise you are in trouble.

    DON.

So you are in a sticky situaion. The catch is that you have a stable job that pays you well enough, but aren't happy. You aren't dedicating yourself full time to being a webmaster so you aren't sure if you'll be able to make a living doing that. My answer is that you need to keep the full time job, and try to up the webmastering work so that it pays you at least as well. When the webmaster work is paying you well then you leave your old job. Do not expect this to happen overnight, it will take a lot of work and effort to get there.

Then you shouldn't even be considering quitting your day job. If you don't have the confidence and gut feeling that once you quit your job you'll be able to make enough money to support yourself then don't quit your job.

From what you've being saying so far you don't like your job, but don't think you'd be able to make a stable income working at home, then imo you'd be best to stick it out at work for a year or so and then as others have suggested, do web mastering on the side.

Then when you feel ready and feel that you could quit your day job and earn enough to live on, then that would be the best time to quit your day job.

Have a backup plan. I suggest, you to find another job, and learn making online, as a side job.

Once, you've learned the tricks, you know, what to do.

Here's a suggestion, save a lot first... say enough to support you jobless and without income for 4 to 6 months. Then leave your job and concentrate online full time. :)

Definitely get yourself established online with a steady income before you quit you day job. SAVE the extra money you make until you are able to make enough money on your webmastering to support yourself. Quit when you are making good, steady income and have some savings to last you several months.

yeah, that's the way to go man, for now earn enough money from the Net to enable you to survive for 6 months at least without a full-time job, then quit your day job for good :D

Im been in similar postion and i know how much a bad job experience can affect other areas of your life, mental and physical.

Without knowing every detail of the situation

Listen to gut instinct and if you can bare working that jon anymore- start to plan and figure a plan to get out of it. Obviously the financial situation will be the big issue if you left the 9 to 5 to be full time webmaster unless you already have established income streams online you can depend on.

I and many other people have found it tough with the pressure of trying to make some decent wage online when starting from stratch with little money to invest - stay out of the B/S/T section here and avoid get rich quick scheme too.

Just reallly think and talk it over first and plan for the worst situation that could arise, like working online for a few months 60 hours a week and still not being able to earn enough to support yourself and family. Then being unemployed if go back to finding a real job.....

Best solution if possible: Leave your current job and find a diff. part-time job, using the rest of the time to build web based income.

Hope it helps and best of luck in your descision making :)
