Did anybody try to have two or more backlinks with different anchor text to the same URL from the same page? It obviously has no effect on your PR, but does it have any effect on your page ranking for all the keywords used in anchor text? Any sharing of experience is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I haven't experimented with this, but I would think the search engines should take into consideration all of the anchor text used. It should be fairly easy to test. Just setup a link like this and see how it is reported in Google Webmaster Tools.
I read on a forum once that using different anchor texts for the same URL has no effect on your SERP. What you can do is place different anchor text's on different pages of the URL ( same thing you are doing now) Ismail
I would think so too, but looks like Webmaster Tools only shows the anchor text on the first link only... I guess that answers my question!
Is it two or more anchor text with same URL in just 1 forum? if that is the case, then it has no effect in rankings. Using sub-pages would be much better than using same URL in different anchor text.
I've tested this, and usually the second link seems to be discounted. I actually believe Google won't bother reading the second link to the same url on a page at all, but cannot 100% vouch for that yet. When I get some downtime I might test this again and see what happens. Cheers
I don't really worry about it when it comes to signatures that much in all honesty, they are not high quality links.
Signature links do not carry much weight these days, you end up having to share the link juice with every link followable on the page. With some people having 3 or 4 links in there sig, the link juice going around is not much at all. It does still help get a new site spidered faster, but as far as being a great source of backlinks I would go elsewhere. The second link will not be weighed in at all as they will see the first link right before the second.
Even you are using more anchors for one URL, it will not effect the PR, but it will be useful in the Keyword Position. If you give the hyper link to your inner page, it will also considered as the backlink to your home page and inner pages. I checked all the backlinks of my sites and the home page and inner pages are getting the backlinks from the DP.
