Windows 7 looks pretty cool, but why doesn't Microsoft put all their effort into Vista and improving upon it? Vista hasn't even been out two years and they already started on a new OS? Doesn't make any sense:confused:

Vista isn't getting penetration. It's the new Windows 98.

The only reason people upgrade windows is to stay compatible with their programs. What Microsoft doesn't understand (or maybe they do) is that people don't want to upgrade their OS unless they have to. I care more about my programs than I do my OS.

Wrong. as a company that is expected to retain the leading edge on operating systems and it's software it needs to create new platforms. Yes when Vista came out it was my WORST nightmare as a PC technician. Absolutely nothing was compatible with it, and the first pc bought from the store with vista crashed when setting it up to leave. BSOD repeatedly. For the next 6-8 months it was rocky as hell but updates were pouring in like crazy and things began to clear up. As a Vista owner with q6600 overclocked and 2gb ram I am more than happy with my VERY stable OS. Not only is it the leading in looks and features, it out performs XP when I use the video card and with its preloading of APPs when I turn on the computer. I hardly ever restart - only put it in standby.

I do anything and everything with this PC, run stock graph charts, side bar full of RSS feeds and crap load of other apps , CS3 apps always open, both Firefox with 20 tabs and Google Chrome with same amount as I test my site on both and since both use different cookie caches. I always have one or another Office 2007 app open.

point is people who have no clue what they are doing tend to cause crap to happen to themselves. I made this pc, work in pc tech, haven't ran antivirus for years and bottom line is I keep my machine running like it should be.

I guess I really can't expect the average user who installs every application that pops up in advertisements to disable or uninstall or keep their probably total crap antivirus up-to-date. Probably purchased an underpowered computer and put an operating system on it but left every feature enabled (you can change 1001 things in vista, I had it running smoothly on a 1.5 celeron with 1gb ram) It looked like windows 2000 and had 30 things running when I was done but you get the idea. /rant

P.S. I don't expect somebody who advertises "How to make 1.6 million in 2 weeks" in their forum signature to understand either.

I also think that windows is best option for us that's why everybody use it. no matter what other says. as some people still useing win 98, u can't expect that everybody will switch to vista so early. microsoft is far away from us the desktopers.

that is a joke. XP can hardly run 1 thing with 256mb ram so there's no way you are telling the truth unless you removed 80% of the services running.

And there are still people complaining about vista because their computer is a piece of trash and can't handle it. Not everybody in the world enjoys sitting at a computer made over 10 years ago and waiting 20 minutes to do anything. Half of you people live in places where you should be using linux because of the lack of computing power. Leave Vista to the countries with powerful PCs.

    Fake!
These are no screenshots from Windows 7, and final system requirements are not even known yet, but are supposed to be far lower than the stated 4GB...

    Once again: FAKE!

    damn, how naibe people are...

1st of all: no screenshot is official
2nd: there are no official system requirements yet, and I don't belive that it will need more than 2 GB to run for itself ;)
