No, there's still an influx of ringtone rappers dropping albums while sadly the underground artists stay underground.

If you asked "is real hiphop dying" I would have said yes.

I have to say yes since the majority of fans would argue when i say that someone like Lil Wayne is an example of highly overrated and not as good as many make him out to be.

i think not. you can't easily get rid of a establish culture like hip hop it may evolve but not totally die, if it fades away it will surely come back again to the next decade or so.

It was a very narrow genre and I'm amazed it lasted as long as it did. I don't think it'll ever die in the same way as jazz and blues didn't die; like thise forms it'll mutate into something else leaving a rump of hip hop 'purists' who'll bemoan it's fate.

Certainly it's a long time since we received any 'sign me up' requests from hip hop artists.

Most rap is the same old crap with very little innovation or talent involved, and a good majority of the rappers out now have no idea what it means to create something original. It isn't that they aren't talented, it's just that they are derivative. I prefer indie rappers for the most part, but sadly, few of them ever make it big.
