Decline in Economy= Less Traffic

Is it just me, or is every website experiencing less and less traffic? If you look at all of the charts, EVERY site is on a downward slope since the past year or two. Google being one of them. If internet traffic was a stock, and webmasters are the shareholders--- WE ARE LOSING our rumple-stilt-skins



This is NOT good.

I think this sucks. It makes it harder for great technology that is being developed now to take off-- which actually will reduce the amount of progress we make detrimentally. Each time there is any hicup in the techology stream, whether it be finance, a technological barrier, etc-- both good and bad come about. Yes it sucks because there is less users, so technology will probably develop that allows more to access the web...

Not always bad, but it just sucks for those along for the ride

 

my traffic has remained more or less steady for the last year.. i do fear though that as the economy tanks, ePC will also..

What type of site do you have, if its a store then I would suspect traffic would go down, (people looking to buy less goods) however, if your site is content based I don't see why a slowing economy would bring down your traffic.

 

The traffic on websites is on the decline. Not significant but noticeable. Also the current credit crisis is taking a toll on users and they do not seem to be interested in anything as such.

 

More google filters are coming and traffic are somewhat distributed among old and thousands of rising sites being born everyday...

Well said. The economy is dropping a rock. Luckily internet traffic isint dropping as fast.

 

The traffic on website in not going down in fact i think it will go up since people will want to keep themselves updated on the latest development in different areas.

 

Some sites might get affected, like realestate, free content sites will not be affected, as long as ppl can afford to pay their internet. I hope it don't get so bad...

 

For my sites, I see decrease in traffic and also, eCPM has decreased too. I hope things will get better soon.

 

Traffic may not drop, but I wouldn't be so sure about advertisers willingness to spend money.

 

There are time my traffics was very low a couple of weeks... and then will return to my regular traffic rate...

 

as the economy tanks its very likely a lot of internet sales will rise as people look more to the net for bargains over the high street.

Instead of this I think, Decline in Economy= Less eCPM.

 

Just because the economy in in decline it does not mean internet traffic falls. However there will be sectors where traffic may fall, e.g. selling luxury goods, selling property, etc. But then there will be areas where traffic may increase, such as news sites related to financial difficullties / economy.

 

it depends on the industry. mine is dropping and i am in travel industry.

 

this is wat i feel and think is happening coz from past week earnings are very bad less by atleast 30-40%.....The traffic has been the same but not the earnings.
