Has anyone actually used IntelloDesk (http://www.intellodesk.com/)? If so what is your review and opinion?

Yes, as a matter of fact osTicket does support email piping and is a good open source program.

Anyone care to offer their views / update on this?

I am looking for a support ticket software that can interface with a knowledge base or forum FAQ prior to sending off the ticket to minimize repeat questions

The only advice I can give you is no matter what, DO NOT choose IntelloDesk!!!! Their software is lacking in almost everyway and is buggy not to mention their average support ticket reply time (if at all) is around 2-3 months! IntelloDesk is in our "Top 5 Worst Software Companies" list!

In stark contrast to IntelloDesk, I cannot give enough praise to Kayako eSupport ticket system! We've been using it on 2 of our sites and we will now use on every new site we develop!

Have a look at Double Chocco Latte -- website is dcl.sourceforge.net, and there's even a fully-functional online demo.

It's free, so licensing costs aren't an issue. It's under active development, so may well do pretty much all you want out of the box anyway.

But even if it doesn't, you have the source code, so you can hack the PHP if there's anything about it you don't like. If you are seriously considering a custom solution, this might be a better option, as it gives you a framework to start from.
