    Hello!

I'm at present using WordPress 2.2 version. How should I upgrade it to the present version (easily). I've been blogging from July 2007, so the blog is a jumbo sized one.

Please help me in this regard.

Just take a backup of your home directory as well as MySql DB before doing upgrade for your own safety.

I use no plugin, just ftp everything apart from the wp content folder, then do that last, all done.

I delete the config-sample file first.

Is there a step by step guide as to what I need to do to upgrade. I think I would end up in a mental hospital if I lost any of my blogging posts/comments/exc. I use bluehost as my web host and I called them to help me upgrade. The guy had no idea what he was talking about and just seemed to want to get me off the phone. The most priceless line out of his mouth had to be, "It's a hassle"...thanks bud that was really helpful.

Is there anyone who could give me a step by step guide or possible hook up w/ me on AIM or Yahoo IM and walk me through it. I'm really nervous about upgrading and screwing it up or losing info... Thanks!

Honestly, search in Youtube for videos that would probably be the best way to go. If you have fanstasico its as easy as clicking a button.

Ok, so I'm blogging about a year and haven't updated my blog. I must admit I was scared I might do something wrong and screw up everything. I will try one of the plug-ins in a hour or so and will post again about how easy or not is to really upgrade your blog.

1- Delete ur old wp-include and wp-admin in dir
2- copy new wp files (overwrite old files in root) and if theme is customized then skip this step

    Note:
wp-content folder requires special handling (plugins and themes)

you must copy over the contents of these folders not the entire folder
(copying enitre folder overwrite all ur customizations and added content)

    Upgrade:
    http://www.yourcompany.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php

    Do not delete
    wp-config.php file
wp-content folder (if custim plugins and themes)
    wp-images (folder)
    wp-include/languages/ folder
and .htaccess file located in root directory

    Delete:
    wp- (read me, wp.php, xmlrpc.php
    license.txt
    wp-admin (folder)
    wp-includes
    wp-content/cache

Or try this auto upgrade plugin:
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-automatic-upgrade/

    Hope it will be help.

Before this I used the WPAU plugin.. but I found too many bugs and sometimes others plugin not compatible with this plugin..
    So now I just use the normal way;
    - delete wp-admin folder
    - delete wp-includes folder
    - overwrite all the previous file in root
    - upload the new wp-admin and wp-includes folder
Then running the site, if database upgrade required it will prompt.. just click upgrade.. that's it..
