...do they just create sites, letters, and pages based on the original sales page? I realize that the product creators can't simply give away 'free copies' to anyone who says they're going to sell them, but would you say most affiliates buy a copy so they can review it and see whether it's worth selling, and figure out how best to craft a sales letter? My questions as a newbie...thanks! Jonathan
I've never purchased an ebook as an affiliate to learn about it. What you have to remember is the publisher will of put enough information on the front of their page to get their customers confident enough to purchase it, so I usually just extract some words from their sales page, re-write them and job done, all we want to do is get them interested enough to go through.
I think many don't, but I've found it much easier to write a convincing review having bought and read the product first. It has actually improved my conversion rate, but when I was a newbie I couldn't afford to buy them first.
If I'm going to write a concise "review" of a product, and hopefully make the publisher some cash, I reckon giving me a free copy to review is kind. If not I'll just buy it through my own link.
Speaking as an affiliate I often ask for a review copy, and usually get one (not always). As a publisher I am happy to give out a copy. I mean someone can buy it and refund it anyway, right? If I can see they know something about the process, I'll help them out. Certainly turns into a win/win in many cases. It is easier to craft a decent review if you have the product, but in those situations where for what ever reason I can't get a review copy, the sales page usually helps. Opt-ing into there free e-course or report, etc is another good way to get the info if a review copy is not available. Cheers
I've only asked a publisher once for their product and that was after about 10 sales. I never do reviews and I don't really want to read their book until I know it will at least convert. If I was selling to a list though, I wouldn't do that.
As a publisher I have had a few affiliates buy my product and then send me an email telling me that they are going to promote it. So some people do buy them, and every once in a while I do actually give out free copies to people that are convincing enough.
I never buy the product. First of all, ask the product owner for a review copy. Write at least 100 words and include your existing URLs as proof. If I want it quicker then sometimes I will find their download page and grab it from there It is definitely worth getting access to the product. You can write a much better review than just listing the benefits on the sales page.
I usually ask for a review copy too, I dont always get a reply but I cannot remember a vendor ever telling me noooo, one ask to view my website on which I was going to promote and when I showed it to him he sent me the whole goodies, review template, keywords and articles. It was a pity that the product did not convert that well and was soon dropped off the face of clickbank. Im my early days of IM I use to copy other reviews and reword it once I see a product doing good and want get in on the action. I have become very brave now as I now realise the power af an affiliate, I wrote emails to a few gurus too and was able to get a few pre-launch copies of their products. In my opnion it is always best to get first hand knowledge with the product.
A lot of clickbank products that you can affiliate with usually have a format where you can just link your clickbank ID into the original website for the product. So, you buy the product, try it out, and if you like it, then you just follow the instructions for creating a link with the product to your clickbank account. When somebody buys that product from your link, you get the money in your acct. Pretty simple.
you can ask for a review copy , before yo upromote it ..I generally promote on gut feel and looking at the site landing pages and the owners credentials
