BOTW Directory

Just wondering is BOTW worth the price to pay for a permanent link? Does it help in your SERP or PR? My main worries are Google penalty on paid links. Will it affect me if I put my links there?

Good directory to be listed in - I seriously doubt you'll be penalized by Google for being listed there. ;)

Probably one of the safest directories you could choose. If you read this page it's very clear you're paying for a non-refundable review, not a link.

    Good advice.

Typically we can assume Google "trusts" BOTW since it doesn't seem to have any homepage or internal pages PR penalty.

Also you'd never be penalised I don't think for submitting to a paid directory, simply because if you could, your competitor could easily add your link there.

It's a quality directory and they have great editors, and excellent links listed there. Probably a big rival to yahoo/business.com too.

I would have to say you are probably only going to find a handful of good directories out there like this. There is also talk of BOTW buying DMOZ, so you probably cannot go wrong.

And I would agree, you are paying for review time, not the link. That's what we've always done with our directories. There is time involved in reviewing and updating the directory. Everything else is secondary.
    Good luck!

It'll probably be worth the price in the long run, but don't expect any direct traffic from there. One link will probably not make a big difference in terms of SERPs or PR, but it can help your cummulative SEO effort.

I wouldn't worry about a Google penalty from a listing on Botw. If anything, it'll benefit you. In fact, if I remember correctly, Google recommends submitting to certain directories such as Yahoo and Business.com. As you know Yahoo and Business.com is filled with tons of paid links, so you have nothing to worry about. There are thousands of authoritative and popular companies that submit their sites there.

I would definitely rank BOTW as one of the top 5 directories in the world.

Any page your link can land on has a greyed out PR bar. Google likes the directory but it looks like they don't want it to pass pagerank.

I paid for a botw listing and was lucky enough to have one of my sites listed in only a few days on a pr3 page of the site. Very good directory in my opinion!

imo, non-refundable reviews are ok for medium/low review fees (maybe until $25 approx). Given that a website (standard) review can take 5 or 10 minutes, directory owners who offer high review fees should consider at least a partial refund for rejections. $2 or $3/review-minute should be enough. Be listed can cost $100 or much more, but pay $15/review-minute is insane.

anyway, I think that botw worth the price to be listed there, just respect their submission terms to avoid the 'stealing'.

I would feel that Yahoo though paid will be safe as they are large enough, too big for Google to punish.

BOTW is one of the oldest and respectable directories out there. It cost a lot to be listed with them (yearly fee) plus you should have some pagerank before you submit to them. They can turn you down.

The quality of BOTW, and it's structure have madeit exempt from the google bomb. I paid for a listing 2 years ago and things are still getting hit.
