Is SEO all about link building?

 

Search engine optimization has to do with a lot of things, such as content, meta tags, etc. Link building is one of those things.

No SEO is having two phases : OnPage SEO and OffPage SEO
OnPage deals with website and OffPage deals with link building.

 

There are lots of SEO activity in reference to optimize a particular website... Link building is just a part of SEO.. Link building is to be used to rank your site keywords in Google list..

You need good content aswell as good backlinks. SEO is a bit more complex than just backlinks.

Yeah, you are right Search Engine Optimization consists of On page SEO and off page SEO

1) On page -- Content, Tags etc.
2) Off page -- Link building (article submission, forum posting, blog posting, posting comments on blogs, social bookmarking).

curious, how did you come up with this number? Would you not agree it's more 90% than 50%?

 

Depends on what you are trying to achieve with your SEO campaign. High PR, more sales etc.

 

High PR - more sales? really...lol How you work that out? I've got PR0, 1, 2, 3 and 4 pages and knock out a ton of sales... PR means nothing.

 

True. But then you missed the point of the question which was directed to the initiator of this thread. Now that you have jumped in let me explain.

The examples quoted by me, was to depict the various motives for link building. Did I say High PR=More sales. I think I did not.

Link Building through Directory submission, Link Exchanges with relevant websites, Article Marketing Etc...

 

Link building is the off page optimisation process of SEO you also have the on page SEO which is also important.
