Now, how do I go about getting backlinks for such a website. 2. I can easily target and get writers, but how do I promote it to get content buyers ?
You should do some research to find out what are the most relevant keywords in your niche. Then you can build backlinks through directory submission and article submission and target those keywords. Over time this will improve your rankings in the serps and your traffic will improve as well.
You could try a press release at PRNewsWire. Hit them up every 3 months or so with something new to announce. Be patient. @kingofsanda - LOL at submitting an article about a possible competitive website. Wonder if the article will get approval. Before you start promoting yourself, I suggest you excercise some quality control. You only have one job posting right now, and already bids are coming in for $1-3 or 0.02 cents a word. You also need to clear out your 'testing' profiles. Make sure that the profiles are completely filled out, including language skills and what country they are from, etc.
You could try marketing directly to people looking to hire people for small projects. There are probably countless forums with people looking for a freelance employee. Check out where your competitors are linked from. That may give you some promotion ideas.
Since you're site is about writers, perhaps look at doing article marketing which is along the same theme.

You could write articles, Press Release etc. it's always better to submit your site in social bookmarking and join forums. It's very helpful to you all.
Try spreading it through other articles/content sites such as Ezine,Squidoo,Hubpages,Qaessia and there might be some others but these are some of the greatest. PPC works as well great but not really sure how well you manage your campaigns, where are your ads displayed and how good the conversions are. Think about targeted traffic, hire some SEO professionals to rank your site highers in the search engines, for appropriate highly search keywords, I can assure you that there are thousands of marketers and website owners that buy articles on daily basis. Do some keyword research, and you might also want to buy some sponsored ads on other websites in your niche.
