    Dear DP members,

Please give me your opinion or advice on creating or not creating footer link such is explained below:
So, my site is www.nz-tourism.com and have 1850 indexed pages in Google.
I want to add to my footer about 40 links that will link to my inner pages with my keywords ...
Could this help me to rank better on inner pages in Google for that kws?
Does it have some negative effect ?
    Thanks.
    Robert

It is advisable that do not put more outgoing links on your page, still if you want to add links than add less outgoing links as you can. Just limit it to more important pages only.
you can try internal linking to gain benefit of link juice.. i have pm some good website for internal linking structure.
    all the best

Avoid populating footer with too many links as minimum of 100 links in a page is advisable.

If its an internal linking, i see no harm you by doing it. (but for me, 40 links in footer is too much.)

Consider the number of links that you want to put in to your footer...

The more appropriate thing to do would be to place the links through out your website within the actual content, and still use the keywords as anchor text to link to your internal pages. Having sitewide footer links may actually cause Google to put up a filter for this type of activity. I would highly recommend just using your keywords within the content of your site to link to other pages in your site. Try linking to each page with different keywords as well, instead of just one.

    Good Luck!

when the outgoing link or url is a broken link it is again worsen the situation. having more outgoing links are ok. but not heavy.

Internal links in general do not harm you, it is sitewide footer links which may do slight damage to the credibility of your site. If you have the same links that you would use in the footer, but spread them out in the content throughout your site, you will definitely have more of a positive impact on your ranking and that is a proven SEO technique.

I think it is better to create navigation links placed on a sidebar rather than placing on the footer. SEO aspect, I don't see there's anything wrong because basically what you are actually doing is working on the internal link structure for better indexing and navigation. However, using footer area may not be a good choice since whatever placed there won't get noticed by visitors unless that is your objective in the first place.
