There are many viruses on the rise today right now. My Gmail and Yahoo account got hacked. How? My dad saw a commercial for finallyfast dot com. He downloaded it. And got a virus. Then the virus got my username and password from google. Luckily I used a computer and changed my DP account as it is more important than my Email. Im trying to compile a complete list of links of bad and good FREE software. So your suggestions to add to my list would be greatly accepted and will have ++given to you. Dont download free anti-virus stuff. Except for some exceptions. Good: McAfee Norton NOD32 One Live Care (Microsoft) Avast Trend Micro Firefox for downloading stuff Only buy from the box as in from the stores or stuff from here Bad: Finallyfast P.S. This guide is only avaliable on DP forums. I dont have an account on any other forum.
Please add Avira Antivir antivirus to that list. It is one the best and I am using it for long time. Thanks for sharing the info though.
I am also using the Avira antivir antivirus. I would like to know your oppinion about the quality of the antivirus. I find it to be good. mine is free version.
Free does not necessarily mean they are not any good i recently had good old windows defender come to the rescue after mcafee and spyware doctor could not locate an infection even after several sweeps. Spammers trying to pass themselves off as IMers seems to be on the increase too the unsubscribe link at the bottom never seems to do any good though.
I use NOD32. Try to avoid the free anti-virus stuff if you can. Virus' - or should I write, virus writers - are getting really clever. You wouldn't want anybody to steal all your passwords now would you!
about a year ago I was reading they hacked into norton anti virus scan so when you did a virus scan from norton, you got a virus that was undetected from norton. It was about a week then norton found it.
Thanks guys. Somehow, it wont let me edit my posts though. I think they locked it. Anyways, ill continue the list here Good: McAfee Norton NOD32 One Live Care (Microsoft) Avast Trend Micro Firefox for downloading stuff Avira Avast Comodo Windows Defender Grisoft AVG Only buy from the box as in from the stores or stuff from here
maybe you're anti virus is disabled when you're dad downloaded the video. Because when the file is virus infected you're anti virus will display a warning or it will block the file entering you're Computer. Or maybe you're anti virus is out dated. These are just my thought. hehehe
agree. i had been using this free kaspersky they are doing the job. they are about to expire soon i need to get another free anti virus
I prefer to split my working systems - main one is Linux box with a httpd+mysql running, that is hidden behind NAT but available on SSH tunnel from outer hosting - don't want to share something on public accounts or in unsafe datacenters; Instead of carrying geekish Moleskin notebook (the one with paper) - I carry PDA without external interfaces. Used to keep my notes in safe place. there's also virtual machines on VirtualBox software that are doing dirty jobs - special freelance works are processed on them, and another virtual machine is the VMWare Player one, used to access important sites. This one also carries encrypted data in it. and is located on hi-speed Flash. also there are lots of SSH traffic going from virtual machines and some of software is on external VPS accounts... sometimes Tor is used locally or remotely. And main system is checked before and after each update, by clean linux distro on read-only media - keeping MD5 checksums of all files in safe place... NOD32 is used along with Comodo's firewall - in this setup it takes only the part of alert system. All traffic is logged. All tasks are bound to specific factory. Nothing can lurk in inode/NTFS attach and I hope no one will rape me by hacking some BIOS firmware. The idea is, control your setups, your data, your tasks and your connection. A warning from an antivirus is like a call from your insurance company yelling "Stop driving into other cars!!!!". Also, external VPNs are essential - the second danger from viruses is the ISP call on 'monitoring your network port - our stupid admin knows each trunk and each vlan in it and he loves it safe - we've detected a strange traffic'. Also, also, also. Hell, it's just not enough to use an av+firewall on broadband connection. F--k the viruses. They're no matter anymore.
Good reply. Thank you. Except could you explain it in everyday words, I dont understand what you are trying to say.
