Software (Download Trial OR Purchase)

    Hi,

I'm launching my first product soon and I'm little confused if I should provide a trial.

The product is software and I'm able to provide a 15-Day Trial version on the sales page. But I noticed that other publishers in this niche got good results without providing trials and just linking to the order page.

I think I will put a trial version on my sales page because people who did't want to buy at that time will have at least a chance to try the product and maybe then they will like it and purchase.
On the other hand, affiliates will be waiting to get commission and won't get really good conversions for the first 2 weeks, so I can loose affiliates because no one knows how it really converts.

    What should I do?

    Thanks...

If your competitors don't give out trials, then you shouldn't.

Maybe you should direct link to the order page on your site and then add one of those
chat scripts so when they are leaving you can offer them a trial then.

If your trial will sell the product, than go for it. It's sort of like giving someone your product, getting them hooked and than asking for money.

True aspect but if giving a trial version will make it better I sell more, then I think I should try it

Not bad :) Can be done easily. I don't like that pop-up/pop-under thing on exit but maybe I can try that. Thanks

Exactly! It will definately give me better results because more interrested people will be attached to the campaign. Better conversions I think.

But affiliates of my product will get the result 2 weeks late. And then might think "this product got bad conversions, I should stop my adwords campaign".
Affiliates won't notice those customers which have used the trial for 2 weeks and than bought the product because they stopped marketing too early.

You could try not giving a full of two weeks. Give them enough time to see the potential value of it.

Check the competition. If all your competitors are not providing any trial, then go for trial approach. Observe the conversion for a period of 1 month. If it's promising, do continue with it orelse goback and leave the trial method.
