Affiliate company wants access to my Google Adwords

So as some of you already know, I'm currently having issues with an affiliate program. They claim one of my promotions may be fraud which is a lie but I wont get into that right now because thats not what this post is about.

So they first asked for screenshots of where I promoted the program (mostly Google adwords). Sent that no problem. And now they want access to my Google Adwords account. I have nothing to hide but part of me feels as though this is an invasion of my privacy and was an unreasonable request. I am currently promoting other companies there and my past stuff is on there, etc....

Part of me wants to just give them access to prove my innocence. The other part of me wants to stand up and say no as its a invasion of my privacy.

If you were in this situation, what would you do?

 

Nope, don't give it up; tell them to go screw themselves. Your Adword Account contains information that you slaved over for hours and hours to optimize. It's your bread and butter. No legitimate affiliate network will ever ask you for access to your account, NEVER. Many affiliate networks have a separate division, that promotes affiliate offers themselves; and by providing them with your secret information; you will allow them to become a competitor against you.

Nope. Surprisingly, this is a well known company that has been around for awhile now.

Before naming names, I want to give this company some time to redeem themselves and settle this in a professional matter.

It was my affiliate manager that asked for my login info. So now I plan to write the head of the company letting him know whats going on.

Also, take notice that it may be just your affiliate manager who is wanting to get information of your campaigns to use for personal gain. Meaning that it might not be an actual request from the advertiser to review fraudulent leads/sales.

 

If i were you i'd call the network HQ and let them know. Talk to someone in charge of AM so the could take appropriate action. Just get a new AM, in case some trouble would happen in the future.

i would have dropped the offer and left.. this is a very good reason why i hide referrers and other methods. AM's half of the time cannot be trusted. I would have laughed in his face if he had asked me for my adwords account details

 

you should reach out to upper management. Find out why they need it. Being on the network side some advertisers have withheld payment from us claiming a proven and good affiliate didnt run what they said they did, and the client has forced us to get proof like account screen shots, or ads, etc. in order to get paid on the traffic. We paid the affiliate because we stood by him and his traffic, we eventually got paid but we worked extra hard for it

In this bad economy i would be very cautious of who you do business with, both network and advertisers. Will the advertiser you promote be the next AIG or big company who goes bankrupt due to the poor economy?

 

Don't give them the access for your adwords account , they will use your adwords info to earn money them self , send them only a screen capture of your account and hide CPC ....... .

I believe we should first allow the affiliate network to provide their defense, before you slander them.

 

Its probably not the network, just a am trying to see your keywords and prices for his personal gain.

 

slander is spoken word. I think libel is the word your looking for.

Still if what he is saying is true there is no danger of either.

I am not even saying there is nothing wrong with demanding to see a affiliates adwords account....

 

Slander can also be published in text also.

Judging from your post, it's showing intent on negatively criticizing the network. If you just want to make a blog post about requests of keyword(etc) proof by affiliate network; then you don't need a network to be integrated into the post.
