You can not compare a governor's approval rating to that of congress, hell even congress as a whole V the president is a bit out there. Try the congressman and woman's approval rating in their home district for a more accurate gauge.

Many stories have come out that she does not have the 83% rating that was touted as well.

Not hard for a republican to have a high rating in a republican state.

I think we might be talking past each other, a bit, Jazz.

I'm not denying Obama suffered a summer slump, and I'm not surprised. Races tighten going into the final months, and McCain's attack ads (who can forget the class act, "Britney Spears" attack ad?) had started to gain traction.

I likely misinterpreted you, regarding Palin's contributiion - in part, confusion over statements like:

Because there was an obvious bounce immediately post RNC, and Obama is only now regrouping, and recovering losses, to some extent.

Were I to advise Obama, I'd tell him and his handlers, forget Sarah Palin. Tactically: use the economy to pin McCain to the cross of George Bush, as 4 more years of failed policies - hit him there, hit him hard, and hit him over and over. In a word, get "outraged" as the McCain has coopted the term, to its ridiculous ends ("lipstick." "Asking questions" of Sarah Palin, of any kind whatsoever - "outrageous!").

Actually, he could probably sew it up on the 22nd by attending the Jewish rally in New York.

I long ago lost all respect for Hillary Clinton, and this is exemplary as to why. I intimated, half (and only half) jokingly, that she has done what she could do to so weaken Obama's candidacy that he would lose, McCain would take it, and she could step in in 2012 to be the Savior over the rubble of the American polity.

i think about 65% of American Jewish population vote for the democrats.
I do not know why republicans think that they have the Jewish vote.

There are different versions of the projected electoral maps as well.
I don't trust polls all that much since Hillary won New Hampshire.

Almost posted pretty close to same thing ealrier and veered to a different point and skipped it. Yeah, kinda looks like a not so accidental way to damage "her" candidate with a key demographic without actually campaigning against him. "Hillary 2012" bumper stickers are probably stacked in her closet already.

I think that's the point. Romney, although he belongs to a wacky religion(even wackier than regular christianity, and that's saying a lot), doesn't really seem to let it govern the way he governs.
If McCain had chosen Romney I'd be much less likely to vote because the two tickets would have been a tie for me.

Not many employers hire employees that will be effecting the direction of the world. I am very much concerned about her religious beliefs, at least to the degree that I think it will guide her decision making.

link is not working for me. If this is about hackers breaking into her email.
i do not think it is her official email. If it is then she seems kind of a fool for using a non secure email, rather than a government email.

My point about her approval rating was intended to address the point LogicFlux raises. I grew up in what is now considered a Fundamentalist Christian environment (the term had yet to be coined at the time).

As an adult in my 30s I was the type the firebreathing fundamentalists hated... the pillar of the community type who nonetheless stood in a Southern Baptist Church during a service where the preacher was sanctimoniously stating that ALL alcohol is evil, and telling the congregation we must revise our rules to say deacons could not be appointed if they drank or traded in the product at all... and I pointed out the freaking obvious (to anyone that picked up the book to which they paid occasional lip service) that his proposed rule meant Jesus Christ would not qualify to serve as a deacon in a church that purportedly worshipped him.

[Trust me... if you THINK you've seen pissed off, try that one sometime. LOL. I think that led to a divorce, too.]

I can't lift my experience outta the brain and hand it to somebody else to make 'em feel better... just saying I recognize from my own experience the difference between the hardline dogmatic nutjobs that cant function in the real world vs genuine good guys that are frankly a darn good thing to have around.

I've known both types, and the believers that can deal with the real world on its own terms are a good thing to work with, whereas the other type is frankly not trustworthy and only marginally sane IMO. Palin would NOT have a high approval rating (regardless of the exact number) or have been elected and re-elected as mayor and then made governor if she was one of the hardcore nutjobs.

Again... I can't make that translate, but I care about this country, as I'm sure you guys do. I wouldnt vote for the televangelist type who might spend because manna would then fall from heaven to replace it tenfold. Palin isnt one of those. If so she'd be barefoot and unemployed looking up cookie recipes to make her man happy just as the scripture (per some fundamentalists) requires her to be, not the first female Governor of Alaska.

    FWIW

Didn't read all of the posts, but here's my 2 cents: I'm for Sarah Palin and I'm not holding her daughter's indiscretions against her. I seriously doubt that she encouraged her daughter's behavior. I hope other people can move past that, too.

Well said. The difference lies in whether you put being a good [Insert religion here] first or being a good human being first.

I honestly ceased to be a regular participant in organized religion for exactly that point. If theyd check carefully theyd probably find being the former REQUIRES that you first be the latter. ~ Thanks , rj
