    Hi All,

This used to be easy, I think I might be missing a trick here. Does anybody know the average time it takes for brand new site to get indexed in Google? so far I only have a landing page which has good content, between 250-500 words. I used the Google Add URL tool and have also got some links in for some added measure. Its been 2 weeks and nothing. Ive had other landing pages that have been idexed without ANY inbound links.

    Help!

That was the first thing I did and have been checking the Webmaster Tools everyday since then! Just a bit concerned as in the past my sites were indexed within 3-4 days!

    Thanks for the advice though!:)

have you created a RSS feed to and pinged it? I use pingomatic like this and it only takes 2 days max!
    For example
    Title WHATEVER,
    URL www.youdomain.com
    RSS feed www.youdoamin.com/rss.xml

Only ping ONCE a day! Ping same page until it turns up in Google search site:yourdomain.com once it shows, list the next page untill ALL webpages are indexed - Done.

    A) submit your url to google
    B) use signature links in forums to get links
    C) use blog posts to link to your sites

this will get your site indexed

Thanks guys, will do that as well. My question is really about the speed of getting indexed as opposed to actually getting the site indexed as I know it will in due course. I appreciate all the help guys!

There are a bunch of things that can get your site indexed quickly in Google. Creating a sitemap is the first thing you should do and then submit it to Google. But there are a few other tricks, such as adding you link to forums signatures or placing it on websites with a good exposure.
But the most important thing is... CONTENT.

To make sure that a new website is indexed quickly, use the following formula.
It's no magical trick, but simply a way to put links to your site out on the web to be discovered and followed by the bots. The idea is to find sites, where googlebot and the other bots come around often.

    1) Put up your website and make sure that you have at least a few pages worth of content.
    2) Include a link in your signature on a number of popular forums, where you are already active - and participate in the debate.
    3) Write some blog posts on your own active blogs that are crawled frequently and include links to your new website.
    4) Write useful comments on popular do-follow blogs.
    5) If your website is a blog, submit your blog to a number of rss aggregators and ping them all when you write new posts. (actually, find one of those huge lists of sites to ping, and ping them all as well).

In addition to these five points, feel free to submit to directories, social bookmarking, write articles, create a Squidoo lens about your new site etc., but done right these five points should be more than adequate for a quick indexing.
