    Hello Friends:

I currently use 3 SEO methods to improve my websites and got some back-links for each site. I currently use Article submission, free directory submission, and forum posting. I do not know which method got me some backlinks.

Can you please rank each method so I know which one to focus more?

    1. Article submission
    2. Free directory submission
    3. Forum posting
    4. Others (please list)

    Please advice.
    Thanks,
    Jenny.

as per my experience, article submission will be more beneficial but still you can use link baiting for more backlinks. that will help you to get more relevant links that will boost your ranking.

Jenny, your first 3 points are awful for seo. If you are optimizing for the sites in your sig (adult pills and dating) it'll be a cold day in hell before you rank anywhere with these tactics.

Forget articles, directories and forum posting. Work on getting high quality links on authority sites, preferably from within your niche.

Not true. If you had 50 pr7+ links that were related to your niche you would rank no matter how bad your content was for 99% of search terms.

bollards!! Why do people still think that backlinks are the answer to everything, if my site was about golf and my links came from a site about carpets i would not rank high at all if i just had a crappy one page site about golf that was dupe content

Hence my point if the links were on-topic. SEO has been, and for the forseeable future will continue to be, 80%+ offpage stuff for the small to medium websites. There is only so much that can be done onpage. If you have 10 sites in a niche with good onpage seo, how can google decide how to order them? Clearly google can't tell what is "good" content, its not a human. It goes on links.

I'm also willing to bet if you get carpet links to a golf site, it will rank very well at least until a competitor reports it.

I dont have time to find a better example as UFC Fight Night starts in 20 mins ;)

    Look at this site http://www.findmeapropertyindubai.com/

    http://www.linkdiagnosis.com/?q=http://www.findmeapropertyindubai.com/

That site is ranking first page in google for a reasonably commercial term (dubai properties). Almost all of its backlinks are spammy free directories, and a few higher PR links from Hotels in the Lake District. I'm struggling to see any links between a sleepy town in Kendall (I think?) and probably the richest country in the world.

None of these will get you anywhere without on-page SEO.

There are hundreds of thousands of sites ranking with extremely poor onpage seo and content, purely because of the links they have. I appreciate since you offer SEO services you don't want to admit that. Don't get me wrong, onpage seo is a vital part of success for a long term business, but its been proven time and again that you can rank a bad site with a lot of links. Its extremely naive to say otherwise.

I can see some people ranking for very low competition keywords with free directory submissions, but the risk v reward is hugely skewed in favour of the risk - its not worth doing and is risking penalty. I submitted one site to 200+ free directories as a test, it ended up 5 pages back in the serps for all the terms it was ranking for.

If someone is considering doing it for a low competition keyword then why bother? If its low competition just buy 5-10 links and you will achieve the same result with no risk.

Again another popular misconception kept going by numerous scammers here selling this service as if its good for seo.
