Well if you wish to get high amount of link backs in a short time then i believe most of them you'll get would be considered as spam, because such quick coming links are normally not familiar to your website or business domain. Therefore i recommend to use proper Directory submission + comment posting in relevant blogs and Social Bookmarking.

just keep doing it slowly, why hurry. As the most say its not gonna be assumed good by Mr Gooooogle . Slow but accurately and continuosly hard working is the key.
As many have said, do follow blog commenting is a good way of building links. Use my (sig) search engine to find relevant posts to comment.
Like someone has already said, there is no fast way with backlink building. You can get backlinks fast but they are likely to be low quality and not help you. You could have 1,000,000 low quality backlinks and they would do the same as 1,000 good quality backlinks. So what is a good quality backlink?...a backlink with your selected keyword as the anchor text on a website in the same niche as yours, preferably within the content.
