For those who vouch for "content" as a key factor to gain SERP top ranking I have a question. How does Google make it to the top of the list for one of the most competitive keywords ever, "Google"?. After all Google must be considering their search home page the best ever possible. A debate over this topic could probably generate some useful tips for the webmasters.
What rank would you suggest if not the best rating for a site that is used by a majority on the planet.
I am not trying to question the integrity of Google nor am I against their great algorithm which I think deliver the best results. I have read at many places including DP where people often point out the content and keyword placements in the text as one of the major criteria s to rank high on Google. I would like to know how important is the content considering the fact that google.com does not have any content in it's page.
OK, What does Page Rank really signify? It just indicates what google thinks the user is likely to rate based on the content found on site. Google is a search engine, so the content it provides (which we all know is true) would be rated the best, hence the rank!
My friend, I don't think I mentioned Page Rank anywhere in my query. I meant to know the relativity of content and SERP ranking from the webmasters here.
ok first off - it shows how accurate their algorithm is. because when someone searches for google, which is a brand... they give him site's official brand. second of all - it probably has more backlinks than any site in the world, with anchor "google". which means it is relevant for this phrase. and ofcurse it has very little bounce rate and it is obviously not a spam site. I'd rank him first for this phrase. AND it does have content, I'd say 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 pages,
Umm...maybe its the fact that Google is the most used search engine, not to mention they own their search engine so they will of course rank themselves. Oh! And not to mention the billion links on the web which point to Google may have something to do with it. You don't have to worry about the webmaster guidelines when you own the company that makes the guidelines.
This site will show how much backlinks matter. It has no text (none), a very short title tag and "0" content. I guess this PR 6 Website Killed The "Content Is King" Theory. It's actually brilliant whoever though of it: http://www.zombo.com Sometimes when I'm bored I spend hours on that website.
I don't know what you want to say about the discussion. I did not found any thing in this website. I think this is the best explanation of why Google is coming at #1 for "Google".
lol...you obviously didn't really look at the site. It's a PR 6. It just shows how Google gets their Pagerank. Zombo doesn't have millions, but I'd love to have their backlinks. You should read the posts before you put your 2 cents in.
this site is having only 7700 instances, and PR 6 without any content. there are 800 backlinks of this site in google that can be matter, but i can say content is not king from all this.
My friend the discussion here is meant to find out how much "content" influence the SERP given the fact the google.com ranks top for the most competitive keyword in the planet with out any content in the page.
