What are the Pros and Cons for listing New Sites in Directories? What are the Best kind of Sites to list in Directories?

The pros of listing in directories is that you can control the anchor text and many of them are free. The links you get will help you get some long tail traffic from the search engines.

The cons are that it takes your time (or money if you hire a service) to do the directory submissions.

as long as you submit to the correct category,any site is OK..Make sure to read directories TOS first though..alot do not accept adult and gaming oriented

improve your site's serp but not only the pr or traffic,
also you should avoid some link farm type directories not matter free or paid...

 

Pro: easily to obtain DoFollow backlinks with anchor text
Cons: low quality, almost useless, takes time (but then again everything in SEO takes time so... )
