OK. I was typing Car Insurance in Google and this new site came up. it's called mycarwizard[DOT]com... So I was like. Where did they come from. I don't really see that much SEO. They only have 2,400 links in Google. So I went to page 2 on Google and went to this site nlgha[DOT]org which again is a site I have never seen in Google for this keyword. It is the exact same site with a different image, and some content. I don't see much SEO at all. They only have 999 links How the "F" do they get on Page #2 in Google for 999 links? They come above these 4 major companies. How? State Farm Allstate gmacinsurance insurance[DOT]com
It happens all the time. Google is constantly tweaking its algorithm. When these type of results occur the quality control team flags them.
The world never stops.... who say those usual site will top the ranking always?? we all need fresh and new stuff, and Serps too. I recently ripped of too many authority sites with my music site. Search this "bollywood music" this is a hell of a damm keyword. i have beaten those usual sites, now im on Top10.
I agree... and the possibility is also there, the keyword you are using not accurate for the result u are seeking from Google..
just because it shows 999 links doesn;t mean thats all the links the site have. i checked nlgha on Y! explorer and it shows 8,849 backlinks. besides, its not the quantity that counts, its the quality of backlinks that counts
If I am looking for Car Insurance how can that not be an accurate search term? That site is offering quotes not Insurance and there target keyword should not be Car Insurance thus being not accurate. I am all about new sites getting up in the SERPS that's the point of companies having a chance to make it but when the results are like I see there is no way they can be in this position, and I am very happy if they can stay in this position, but I want to know who the "F" they did it. I don't care about Yahoo if Google doesn't show them. These guys will never get in Yahoo for this keyword but they do for Google and that's all I care about. I'm not pissed at them I say !!!Hurray!!! and I want to find out how they did it. http://www.mycarwizard[DOT]com/ PR 4 2,540 links http://www.nlgha[DOT]org/ pr 3 999 links These guys are above these companies Google links State Farm PR 7 121,000 links Insurance[DOT]com PR 5 2,930,000 links gmacinsurance PR 6 30,800 links Allstate PR 7 1,580,000 links Interesting how they beat all these guys out...
Use quotes in your search and you will see that mycarwizard isn't on the 1st page http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q="car+insurance"&btnG=Search
They are on page 3 and nlgha is on page 2. The whole point is the consumer is not going to type quotes for searching anything. They might as well be #1 for "car insurance" as well because normal consumers will not use what we know to get sites that optimize for the whole word. This still does not answer my question but a very good point! your point about Google's quality control team flags them is also a very smart point that I am turning to. They might have just purchased the domain and thus getting a temp boost, but I'm not sure yet.
Um, 2400 links in Google is a huge amount - in webmaster tools it probably shows like 1 million links then
I see a change in google rankings... Also there is a chance those rankings are just temporary, getting top rankings for some time is what counts. Regards, ASHISH THAKKAR.
2000 high quality links with high quality text will beat 100,000 low/medium quality links any time. And I don't just mean .edu and .gov links. I mean relevant, keyword targeted links. Not easy to get and maintain but hugely valuable.
Less than 8 hrs later after I posted this mycarwizard moved from page #1 to page #3. Nlgha is on page #2 still. I am assuming what bogart said is the case. Bogart Quote: It happens all the time. Google is constantly tweaking its algorithm. When these type of results occur the quality control team flags them.
What interests me is this started with "They only have 2,400 links in Google. So... " but today Google reports 26. The on-page SEO sucks so it can not be that. If you compair the Google Cache's "view source" and "view source", it doesn't appear that they are cloaking. Maybe someone in google tweaked the link count and it got fixed.
The link in Google makes mo difference in the ranking. Use googlewebmaster tools for a more accurate count of your inbound links.
Also, on page optimization isn't too important. Enough quality links can get a poorly optimized site high on the search engines. If their ranking is already dropping, they probably did something shady to get that ranking.
Doesn't appear new to me: Creation Date: 23-Dec-2000 The site has been around since 2000 maybe it's really just 8 decent years worth of backlinks.
I have been typing this keyword in for more than 5 years almost every week and they have never been in this spot or on any pages past #10 that's where I stop looking. What I think is they may have purchased the domain name and just put this site up and the domain name is why they might have the high ranking.
