I think that it is another way. That can be considered as part of SEO but differentially that is new and separate way

 

It is but social media is more of an external thing. You are driving traffic from social media sites such as digg and stumbleupon. But as far as optimizing your site its more about the content that you have on your site. Does your site have content that viewers from this site would be engaged to learn more or visit your content?

I think that you need to learn all techniques first of all and try. Believe me that is not so easy as one click

 

Search engine optimization and social media optimization, both have the same end motive - traffic. Search engine optimization is a process of getting your website to achieve high rankings and thus attract traffic. You are modifying the website (on page elements) to make it search engine compliant and back it up with off page to achieve high ranking.

On the other hand, social media optimization or social media marketing is a way of building brand recognition and also helps in channelizing the traffic on these website to your website.

 

I don't think social media optimization is part of SEO because the channel and goals are different, however although there are many differences between SEO and SMO, both Co-Exist and help you in meeting your objectives.
