Anyone have any experience using this? I don't want to pimp any sites that offer this, but basically the claim is that they redirect traffic in your niche from domains that were expired or abandoned. Anyone try this method? Thanks
Expired domain traffic is typically very low quality - if someone was looking for a specific site and it's not there any more, they are likely to browse elsewhere pretty quickly
I second that..but if the amount of traffic is significant and I could get it at a rather cheap price, I would.
Hmm, I saw a site that offers that kind of traffic and thought it was cool because it's actually targetted, but judging from comments here and some common sense I suppose it's safe to say that no paid traffic is really worth it. It's probably better to have less traffic yet get it naturally than pay for a barely meaningful burst of traffic. Might as well write a great article and get to the homepage of digg. That's free and you can get 10 000 real visits in a day.
Thanks guys. Will take the money and use it for something else to promote the site. Appreciate the input.
I do something similar to this as often as I can. I search Yellowpages.com and other similar sites looking for businesses that have went out of business, or had a website and didn't want it anymore and let the domain expire. I get quite a bit of traffic by redirecting these old sites, but I only do this with domains that used to offer what I still am.
This is common practice, and it does work. The rub is finding a service that is legit. lol Really?! That many?! WOW!! I almost fell out of my chair!
I'm assuming then you are against buying traffic by adwords or any of the other pay per click methods. They are only another means of buying traffic.
Actually, it's more. Although they're not unique visitors here, but the surge of traffic is so high that there definitely are more than 10 000 uniques in that day. And I can even give you a proof of that as I've been lucky enough to strike a nerve of the digg crowd in one such article in June: See how the usual traffic I had was around 1000 a day and then suddenly on June 28 it surged to 27310 as well as quite a bit residual next day. That's the digg effect right there! Downside is that this doesn't really last long term, albeit you do get a number of good link backs so your site's overall link buzz might increase, so it's overall a good thing. In this case my article even got mentioned on diggnation since it was featured among top 3 diggs on that day. Cheers
What the hell? Dude, that's the real screenshot. And here's the story in question (it links to the site linked in my sig). I can give you a whole page shot if you wish, not that I care so much whether you believe me or not. Why the hell would I fake? I'm not asking for anything or trying to persuade anyone of anything, just showing that sites like digg are a good source of traffic and possibly better investing effort and time into than paying for barely useful traffic. I'd really be a weird f*ck if I faked a shot for those reasons alone. It's actually weird you're in such disbelief. According to alexa digg is among top 200 sites on the web in terms of traffic. So what do you think do sites on the homepage of digg get? Meh, whatever.
If you have the option of getting it free or very cheap then take it because what could it hurt? however if you have to pay for it ...put your money into ppc and other methods.
I bought expired domain traffic twice. Both times it was small media websites which related to my niche and I knew the people had given up on the websites. The one websites converted over well with CTR but the other was terrible it was around .03%
Obviously you have never experienced a "digg" boost... I have many times, and I doubt that is a fake screen shot...
