Care to do a little review of my new site?

    Hey guys,

I'm almost done with my new site - just a couple of tweaks here and there.

    What do you think?

    Do you have any suggestions?

I was thinking about adding feed/blog ratings and have the highest-rated ones show up first.

    Anybody got any tips?

    Thanks!

BTW, it's the site on my signature.

Your site looks great, I like the idea of favoured posts first. Go with your thoughts and add a fedd and highest rated post thingy ;)

Thanks! I didn't mean highest-rated post, as they are dynamically generated using RSS feeds. I actually meant feed/blog ratings so that the most rated blog/feed shows up first.

It'll take a bit of coding work, but I'll try to make it happen. Thanks!

The site looks nice and clean and easy to navigate.

-The theme and the page layout is nice.

-The ad placement and the colors of the ads blend in well with the theme
    of the site.

    Hi,

Layout/Design: Pleasant, perhaps header title could be transparent or something so it doesn't look like a block cut off from a psd.

Content: Great content, but for a newcomer who doesn't know all those writers of blogs it would be gret if somehow they each had a subtitle specifying their specialty or something to differentiate them.

Some sort of rating system, as you suggested, would make it more useful because right now there's a trillion threads and the always in a hurry web surfer wouldn't know which ones to choose.

    Thanks for your input.

The header image is transparent, indeed.

I will think about that! I'll probably add a hover-on bubble on each feed's title.

BTW, anyone noticed what happens when you click on a link other than the blog's title? What do you think of that? Should I do the same with the blog's title?

    Thanks!

Site looks great. Jonathan Volk doesn't have an icon beside the link. Just a heads up

That's because he has no favicon. The website pulls the favicon automatically, so that's why he doesn't have one. I'll have to add some code to make the site display a default favicon when there's no favicon on a site.

    Thanks for your input!

The site is very user friendly, the only thing I may recommend, is that you may want to resize your main page. Besides that, very nice!

I have a regular sized monitor, when I go to the site, I need to scroll over to see the rest of the text. It may just be my computer.

Well, a regular sized monitor nowadays has a resolution of 1280x1024. Many developers are starting to use this resolution instead of the 1024x768 that was mostly used until a few months ago.

I will take note of that, however. The problem is that in order to achieve the cleanest interface, I had to set it to that width.

I made it as narrow as possible, but if I narrowed it down even more, the site would've been too cramped and difficult to read.

To fix THAT problem, I would've had to reduce the font size even further, which would be a problem for many users.

I'll see if I find a work around, though.

I'm working on an iPhone/iPod Touch version, so maybe users with limited screen size could use that interface, seen as developing for those isn't as restricted as mobile development was a few years ago...

Nice idea. I liked the ajax functionality. I also use 1024 res, so I see a little scroll bar.

    Good overal looks.

    - I think that the logo could be improved a bit. A few suggestions: make the description as wide as the Money Block$. Colors are almost the same, and there is no contrast. Bring some contrast to it, look for some good color combinations on the web, there are many free tools for this.
    - The popup with mouseover looks nice, good work on it.
    - Maybe make the source news titles bigger so we notice them easily.

Good work you done, keep it up!
