I have a hosting with its primary domain at present.I want to buy a new domain name for another business, but don't want to spend extra money on new hosting,so plan to use new domain name point to a folder in old hosting. Is this bad for SEO/ranking? Anyone input will be much helpful.Thanks.
Of course Google will want to penalize webmasters who are using shared hosts. Companies who are selling dedicated servers are deep in Google's pockets and Google has to do some quid pro quo.
Icheb, Sorry I don't understand, can you explain? In fact the ip which my site is hosted, has 700 domain..... But,I saw a site which is the same situation as mine, has good ranking in google, even in the first page for several hot keywords..
Sure, I will explain it further. By saying it doesn't matter, I mean, well, it doesn't matter at all. I hope that satisfies you.
I have 42 web sites on the same IP address (shared web hosting) and there has been no problem. Now if you start cross linking them, then the problems start. Google does not link crosslinking on the same subnet (Subnet LInking Penalty???). Google also links sites that have a dedicated IP address.
I guess the only way it would matter is if the ip that you sharing with other people is somehow penalized. If that site with your shared host is flagged as a bad site it could hurt a bit I guess, ... or a lot.
Having multiple domain in the same hosting plan in allowed, or known Add-on domain Sub domain are not recommended! Not good for SEO
Well said. Google will not penalize websites for being on shared hosting. If you have a website with 10 addon domains (other websites) and inter-link them you will not be banned and your rankings will not be reduced. Of course, these links will not "count" for as much credit as say...a one way PR6 link. If you plan on ranking number 1 by only inter-linking the site's you most likely won't. If you have these site's inter-linked then they need to be related. If all the websites are webmaster related (a forum, a web design site, a seo website, a domain blog.etc) then it would be okay. If they aren't do not inter-link them. Also, either way..make sure you also have good reciprocal and one way links pointing to your site. This is what will help you rank the highest. Hope this helps
Please help me on this. I need it more clearer. I have three websites on the same IP, Site1, Site2 & Site3. Site1 & Site2 Linking to Site3. But Site3 doesn't linking to these websites. Will these backlinks count for Site3?
