Very scary financial world out there recently...:(

The futures indicate a 400 point drop in the Dow Jones, I would expect it to be more than just a little crash, as more and more banks gets into troubles. The latest being UBS.....

The Philippine stock market also plunges down 100+ points. Scary time to be an investor in stocks these days.

Small crash? Practically it's a complete meltdown, I would say. It's pretty rocky out there.

Whenever you are wondering about market opening, just look the pre-market quotes.

For US market indices, one can look at

    http://money.cnn.com/data/premarket/

(Pre-market session closes at 9:20 AM).

For individual stocks, I prefer Google finance:

    http://finance.google.com/finance?q=AIG.

You can replace "AIG" with other stock symbols.

Wonder whether the downturn will continue for the coming days and imagine the position of the long term investors who had some solace with the stability of the stocks in recent days. Again the stocks are up for grab by the bears :(

AIG is getting into trouble and I doubt it will be able to raise capital easily given that its share prices drop by more than half. Today drop of about 300 points is not too bad considering the sheer amount of negative news and only one bright spark - crude oil prices.

Looks bad right now. But we always seem to recover. Just a great indication that any business can fall, no matter how powerful it seems.

We will recover :) This is part of the economic cycle, though it was delayed for a long time under Greenspan. This may make the next recession far more severe than the previous. But whatever it is, what goes down and come up and vice versa. Also the long term trend for the stock market is always up and far higher than USA Treasury Bonds in terms of yield.

Well everything is not constant, like days come after night likewise the economy will eventually come out of this phase. The important thing is that we have learned a big lesson from this episode that is how some unchecked financial practices can ruin the economy a whole nation and have its impact on the economies of other counties as well.

With all joking aside! The United States is in deep shit! I have lost 30% of my bleeping retirement over the last 3 years! I can't take it anymore, we need to reassess the situation, and take control of the situation. We are headed for a major rescission!
