Google for the most popular keywords. Make sure you do a good research on your niche. Naming the niches is not possible as everyone has their own plans and research. Base your niche on something that you know. Else, learn about it. Don't go for highly competetive keywords as it'll take months for you to get listed on SEs. Go for top paying keywords so that even a traffic of about 25 uvs a day will give you a good CTR. Publish articles on your niche and refer your website in them. There are loads of article directories. If you don't have time to research and write articles, hire an article writer to do so.You can find many on DP. Get good backlinks - submit to directories, put your site on signatures and keep your site up to date so that SEs crawl your site for better results. Don't be in a hurry. Be ready to spend some money on your site. You'll see how adsense will help you in earning better revenue.

Make a useful, information rich site. Do some SEO for it, add lot of content and build backlinks. You will get enough traffic from Search engines which will make more than $3. And do not worry about Niche, you can earn money from any Niche, all you need is Traffic.
If you want to make 1 to 3 dollars a day using AdSense you will need a decent paying niche and give or take, 200 - 300 unique views a day. These views need to come from Google, or other search engines. (Getting 300 views a day from Entrecard won't do you any good). My experience is you need some decent unique content to get high earning per click. The articles from article site will probably earn you only a few cents per click.
