I have tech news blog. Today i write a tech news post in which i copied a paragraph from some established site and pasted in my post between
and
. wILL google consider this as copied content. Copyscape shows this as copied (of course). Also, like suppose someone announced something and u put that announcemment under
. Is that copied.WHAT tags shall i put it under so that it isnt copied. I dont want to claim it to be my content.
You probably don't need to worry if you are just referencing a paragraph. Maybe put it in quotes. Google knows that there are times when you do need to copy a paragraph. They are more concerned with entire pages or entire articles being copied. Even then they are unlikely to penalize you.
It is my understanding that if you copy content you should cite and link back to the source (out of courtesy). You won't be penalized but that content won't be considered when indexing the page so no credit for the keywords. There are many times copied content is legitimately necessary so penalties aren't practical.
Put them in quotes and provide the source of information. It's normal way how a news from important sources spread all over.
Don't worry is you copy few lines of content in your site. Duplicate content creates problems, when the whole content is copied and lot of pages in a site have duplicate content.
If you copy one paragraph or so, you must give link back to the original article. Google doesn't penalize sites for this. But the original webmaster if he finds out, will come for your neck or a link. So, be fair and give link back as early as possible. If it was me you copied, I would definitely come for a link or removal or the content.
It is copied, but question is the properotions of copied content and the unique content you have provided yourself. Keep at least 50%+
What about copied press releases? does google penalize those? if its like 3-5 paragraphs and you make a bunch of copies, does google differentiate between them?
THERE IS NO PENALTY FOR DUPLICATE CONTENT. Why does this bullshit keep cropping up? Google knows full well that often times entire articles are syndicated across a LOT of sites, so WHY would they PENALIZE a site for that???
It's perfectly normal and acceptable to quote another source, as long as you give credit where it is due.
