I actively manage my account, and this morning I was bidding a max cpc of 1.10. I had spent about 25 bucks and decided to change my bid to .90 cents. Well i typed it in and guess I might have forgotten the period in front of the 90, so when i logged into my account 15 mintues later, I was bidding 90.00 a click and had gone from spending 24 to spending 69 and then I of course was like what the fck and changed the ad and literally killed it and then jumped from 69 to 83 and then eventually to 124. Anyways think I can take this up with adwords and have any luck?
You can try, I'm not too sure if it will wash with them people must do it all the time you just have to suck up to your mistakes.
Ended up spending my budget for the day of 150 on 68 clicks in about 4 hours. I swear I put that damn period and now my day is completely ruined and now I am ready to throw up and cant see straight. Chat specialists aren't there right now. Today in general was a bad week overall so today is like icing on the worst week ever of adwords. I was losing nearly 20-30 a day and then today i spent 150 on 2 sales costs me roughly 73 a sale and I am just suppose to wash it up. FKC YOU ADWORDS!
So anyone think i can plead with the adwords gods for mercy and they understand and offer me a credit? Thanks
people lose thousands and millions today.. you just lost a small amount of money. no big deal. thank god u r in good health!
im trying to make the most return for my buck, when i have never bid more than 1.10 and then adwords locks in 90 dollars. I mean come on adwords this is fcking ridiculous when a damn decimal is between you and getting fcked and of the past 100 days i have never had that problem
YOU made the mistake. AdWords/Google is not a babysitter. Why you think they should take responsibility for your mistake is beyond me.
Sorry i dont the point. the moment you noticed you screwed up the CPC, why did u let it run for that horribly high CPC? couldn't you just pause the group? am i missing something?
For $90/click, I think they might understand and see that it was a mistake and hopefully work with you to correct the situation. However, if they don't I wouldn't be surprised - you're the one whose responsible for making sure the decimal point is in the right place. In the meantime, don't stress about it, go have a few drinks and give them a call monday morning.
um i noticed it after like 5 minutes because i left my comptuer, and it went from 25 to nearly 69 and thats when i paused it. I guess it doesn't update immediately, but it just kept jumping from 69 to 83 to 124 to 147. I mean it was fcking ridiculous. The cpc also went from nearly 1.75 to 2.89 in a matter of like 30-40 clicks over the course of this whole mess. Wtf are you talking about adwords is a babysitter? When every shit hits the ceiling i go talk to the billion dollar company to get me fixed up as I have spent thousands upon thousands give them my money. A happy customer is a long-term high value well paying customer. Adwords better make me happy.
It's called take responsibility for your actions. Tamtrum posts filled with foul language won't do you any good.
It does not hurt to ask. I was doing "mystery shops" for a gas station chain and used my debit card seven times for purchases of around $3.50 each. The pumps ran the card as a credit and I had forgotten that the pump puts a $75 hold on the card. I ended up with seven overdraft charges of $24 each. I contacted the bank and begged for mercy. They reversed three of the charges.
just be glad you noticed when you did and didnt go on vacation or something. It wouldnt hurt to contact them about it,but i wouldnt expect much as far as refunds go
so has anyone else had any dealings directly with adwords in regards to similar situations? I talked to a friend who sells insurance and advertises via adwords. When they first started the accoutn they put max bid per click at 2 dollars and didnt set a budget. Next day they check and see 800-900 dollars worth of charges, and they dont even sell anything. Give me some percentage chances of they offering some sort of compensation...
That's funny...you expect Google to refund advertising charges because you (or your friend ) used AdWords but didn't sell anything? Sorry, that's not how it works...
Like with most businesses, if you bitch and moan enough they'll probably budge a little bit. But I wouldn't expect more than maybe some ad credits (for future ads).
If you speak to them the way you post, I hope they dont' give you refund. This is a tiny loss to them and to most people. You made a mistake, man up and swallow it. You can try to blame everyone else, but you screwed up. If you approach adwords on the phone and say "look I know I screwed up, but can you find it in your heart to help me out with this?" You will probably get a refund or future credit. Next time be more careful and don't get so upset over something so minor.
Exactly. OP, you learned a cheap lesson. Deal with it and move on. It's not their fault you messed up. If you went into a restaurant and ordered without looking at the menu and when you got the bill said "oh, I didn't realize that meal was going to be $25, I don't think I should have to pay for it" do you think they'd say "oh, no problem, have a good day"? Nope. You ordered it, you ate it, you pay for it. It's that simple. (BTW, I've done this...When I was traveling once I ordered a bottle of wine that I thought was 17 and it was 170. I smacked myself upside the head, laughed at my stupidity and paid the bill. Then I vowed to double check prices from then on.)
