ICANN are opening up the domain system so that any domain extension will be available before long. So basically you could have .noxservices or pretty much anything... If you've got the odd $200k knocking around ;)

Cool, and the amount of domains get sold on it for example i take .uii

So if someone registers painting.uii the amount which is fixed for this domain will come to me or will go to icann?

I don't pretend to know everything on this matter, but the way I see it, you keep the money from every .uii domain you sell.

I don't think ICANN would allow you to take .uii though because you have to be able to present to them why you should be allowed it, I think.

For .pro domain names the bad thing is you should have a license in order to register them. Apart from that I don't think .pro is bad at all.

Friend it will cost WAY over $1 million a year just to run a new TLD from ICANN. Plus what you have pay on auction to get a good TLD plus the renew fee every year $100,000s.
Plus if you going after a good TLD it will cost from 10Million -100Million on auction plus huge cost to promote it and run it.

Very few will take the risk.

    What we will see is
big companies like apple buying .apple and so on
and few other top TLD will be sold.

Lets say you buy the domain .car
you will then have sell hell of allot .car domains to get you investmen back.
Plus if you dont sell hell of allot .car domains - the domain will just be forgotten with time in the internet jungle.

The top current easy to remember domains like .com , .me, co.uk, .ca, ,net will rule the web in future:)

Whereas I agree that .pro is a dead TLD, I do not think you have missed the opportunity to make a date with .me. There are still lot of good ones available. It would be a good idea for you to keep a couple of .me’s in your kitty. Who knows; they might turn you into a millionaire and then certainly you would be able to afford .uii with ICANN.

I was reading over the internet. Dot tel’s sunrise period will start in Dec 08. I do not think it will attract many domainers for the fact that it is technology related. .asia got popularity mostly in India and China due to be region specific. .me has been very popular worldwide for the fact that it is brandable and makes the site personalised.

I think dot tel will be like .tv or .pro for certain industries, with a modest quantity of domains around 5-6k registered. (It should be noted that though .pro was launched some 5 years ago but the number of domains registered never crossed 6000. Last week they relaunched .pro but it is extremely difficult to revive a dead tld.)

You would be able to do it before long, as ICANN changed its rules at its last conference in Paris in order to allow people to have extensions of their choice. They have a long list of criteria, terms and conditions; whether you can fulfil them is a different issue. ;)
