Always AMD .For gaming and work both. Giving you a nice statistics. I often have to install windows xp in different machines. An intel DUAL core 1/2gb ram always takes about 40mins to install , while amd (cemphor or xp) with 1/2gb RAM takes about 20-25 mins.I always prefer AMD with a good MotherBoard from Mercury or BioStar(with Nvidia).

Intel's Core2Duo runs much faster than AMD, but AMD is energy consuming..

yes. Biostar is very cheap in price (bought it at about $70 )but till now it haven't given any trouble . I have not tried overclocking it but what I like in it is , it gives onboard 512mb nVdia 6100 AGP support(I bought it more than 1 year ago). So I could play many games without installing a graphics card. Another thing earlier I told "good MotherBoard from Mercury or BioStar(with Nvidia)" , what I really mean to say is "good MotherBoard from ASUS or BioStar(with Nvidia)".

I prefer Intel chips in servers, but for general/desktop use I generally just go by whats better at the time.

I've used AMD chips on my desktop PC for 4/5 years, and recently changed to Intel because you just can't beat a Q6600 for £110 - especially considering they overclock beautifully ;)

Normally Biostar releases two types of motherboards , with nVidia support and without nVidia support , with nVidia suport takes about $20 extra. I've lost the model no. but I guess it was TForce2 AM2.
