Hey, I am just finishing up on my latest site : Retro Console Store It is a site which has old school Video Games consoles like Mega Drive, SNES etc. I am looking for as much feedback as possible about how to improve this, what is missing, what I should add, what is there that shouldnt. Thanks.
My first impression is that the color is a bit too red. You know red and orange are adjacent colors so I think they don't blend well when put together. The logo on the other hand is more on retro-ish rather than game-ish. (I dunno if that's a good or bad thing)
The overall design is very cool. It is quite workable. Here is what could be changed for effectiveness: 1. Red text on red background. Ouch. Forget a huge amount of male population that is colorblind. That just happens to also be your main target probably. Would recommend a higher contrast color like white. 2. Is this a purchase site? How do I purchase? I would advise putting this foremost so viewers know what you can offer them. 3. Can you get TurboGrafx and Coleco? LOL...I remember the good old days. I would rather prefer a more toned down color for the background and everything. Sometimes (but not all) do you notice that generally sites tend to perform better with plain background so that focus and attention can be directed towards the content itself? That's what I feel. Other than the color, everything should be ok. I can see that you also create that kind of blurred image for the console to simulate the nostalgic theme which should be good.
The theme and the layout is not bad but you should change up the color scheme a bit. The orange text on the red background does not look good, you should change the color of the text.
I have just changed the links and I think it has made a HUGE difference to the look of it? You can purchase the things through ebay I am sure I could add those onto the site if there was much demand!
I am going to put a banner at the top in the middle which I hope will break up the red a little bit too
Much better! Next tasks in order: 1. Footer. Powered by wordpress. I would put in place of that a professional text link footer and contact information. I would be hard pressed to buy from anything but a site that looks professional and maybe the average joe wouldn't pick up on this, but I would. 2. Opening page content needs to be less "red". The images that are faded to red...make them punch out, leave them the original color. Just my opinion. Like the white text much better, I can read it! This is a pretty cool site! Cheers,

hi there, ahhmmmm your website is nice, i suggest you, add more photos about games, adjust or shall i say try new color theme combination that will related to the website you are making! try red and black with yellow strips! its all up to u what color combinations you prefer! hoping my suggestions will help you.... snowbitz the teletubby! heheh
I am going to put some random banners there to different pages with some images. ie Mega Drive Games, Master System Games!
